This game starting at 8 shows just how stupid the NHL is. Almost no one in Edmonton wants this to start at 8, and no one in T.O. wants it to start at 10. Also, almost no one in either city wants it to start late so they can watch some other game before this one. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Every game should start at 7pm in the home market, 100% of the time. Let the people who want to watch multiple games sort out using their PVR or replay streams on Centre Ice. icon_thumbdown icon_thumbdown icon_thumbdown

I expect a better game, especially from the top 6 and McD specifically. McD was a none factor offensively and went -3. That just can't happen. No team will win when their best player does nothing offensively and is suspect defensively.

I thought the Oilers didn't move the puck overly well on defense. I thought putting in P.Russell made zero sense and he played 12 mins. I know the bottom 6 were better than the top 6 but there is next to no chance he produce offense. The Leafs are not a big, grind it out team. They are a skilled fast team. You don't need a grinder like Russell against the Leafs.

I know with Lagesson out, having 4 dmen in the line up to be on the PK plays a part in Tippett's decisions. Barrie doesn't play on the PK, rookie Bouchard won't and he doesn't trust Jones yet and honestly, I wouldn't either. So that is why unfortunately K. Russell is in until Lagesson is back. So I would either got 11-7 again to help with puck moving or if he wants to go 12-6 because Leon is minorly nicked up and he doesn't want to give him extra minutes, replace P.Russell with either Nygard or Turris. In my opinion, you can't just have a player in your lines who produces nothing but is just "safe". You should be putting guys in who have the potential to make a positive play not just be out there not making a mistake.

It's a double header night. So if they don't play at 8 in Edmonton, how else would you like that to happen?

So basically, I want that to happen by them not having double headers because the vast majority of viewers definitely ONLY watch their home team.

I like that Leafs fans have to suffer for their hockey team once in a while. Normally all others have to shuffle around so they may be catered to. However, this is the perfect opportunity for the NHL to experiment with scheduling. Why not start Flames - Sens early so we can have a compressed Monday night triple header in Canada? Maybe see if the people would enjoy being able to watch more hockey.

Well if today's morning skate is any indication, one of the three will be on the PK tonight! Something to watch for unless the lineup changes by game time.

WOW. I did not expect that at all. I guess we will see who actually plays at game time. Maybe the cowboy is skipping the morning skate only because he blocked a shot? I hope that isn't the case.

If this ends up being the pairings tonight and if Jones wants his spot back, this is his time. If he falters again, I am not sure they go back to him.

One can only hope.

If the go 12-6, I would have Nygard in for P.Russell. Nyagard is good on the forecheck with lots of speed.

While the defending and goaltending last game were of course far from stellar, the main concern for me tonight is whether Connor, Drai, and Co. can actually score. They made the Laffs' backup look like prime Hasek, so it would be almost hilarious if they could pot a brace on Andersen. Let's hope...

Guaranteed that Tippett gets cold feet and writes in Kris Russell's name over Caleb Jones. I would be shocked to see anything different.

MUST have 4 PKers in the lineup, heaven forbid there are more puck movers than ‘effective’ PKers

Expectations for a Bouch/Bear 3rd pair is a destroyer of worlds. At least in analytics terms.

Campbell played well but the Oilers made him look like a vesina candidate so let's not do the same with Hutchinson.

I like 8:00 games.

My big concern when they announced the Canadian division is that all our home games against Montreal and Toronto would be at 5:00, so I'm really glad to see that they are not. It's nice to see home time zones respected and represented.

I honestly prefer 5PM starts, but understand that its best if Oilers and Flames aren't playing at the same time.

I notice two 6PM home starts in the new few weeks, which I don't think we've seen in years.

I know the reason Detroit and Columbus wanted out of the west is they were tired of so many 10:00 or 10:30 local starts. Eastern Canadian teams, (at least the media), seem to be ok with late starts this year.

It’s also time change in a couple weeks

Yay! I like our summer sunlight.

Also SNET is probably screwing with TSN's regional broadcast ratings.

Thank our lucky star(fish)!! Notes from AM skate;

D Pairs;
Nurse/Barrie
Jones/Larss
Bouch/Bear

Koskinen to get the start

Drai is on the ice

Expectations for a Bouch/Bear 3rd pair is a destroyer of worlds. At least in analytics terms.

I am a little nervous about them playing a rookie on his off side but he's done it before.

Bouch/Bear 80% Corsi!!!!!!

let's ignore the 2 goals against though.

I mean a backhand from the dot(?) over the glove and Bouchard without his stick losing his guy. Koskinen could have bailed Bouch out on both but was playing like he’s 4’7” not his actual 6’7”
