NHL stated a player entered covid protocol, so I would assume based on this info that Jesse (assuming he is the one) will be out for 14 days now?

Not necessarily 14 days. I think if subsequent tests come up negative he can get sprung early, but he's going to miss a handful of games.
I think Ovechkin was only out about a week...

I feel like Rishaug is trying to talk me off the ledge with his latest tweet;
Start time being pushed could have to do with an inconclusive test, as opposed to a positive. Out of an abundance of caution, test results for the entire team would be pushed through as quick as possible the day of the inconclusive test, hence the start time being nudged back. At this point there's no reason to assume anyone has tested positive. Could well be precautionary based on an inconclusive result.

So there are two types of "non-result" results.
An inconclusive result means one COVID gene's DNA was detected on amplification, but not both that they test for - unfortunately, these tend to generally test positive on re-test but can also indicate very early or previous infection.
An invalid test means that insufficient (or no) DNA of any genotype was detected on the swab. These do not correlate with anything.
Either result would pull someone off the ice. The amplification cycle takes approximately 5 hours, which explains the pushed back start. No need to panic, yet.
