That was not convincing. Will take it though. Not gonna win many games with an effort like that.

Nice effort against arguably the most beatable team in the league. Oil didn't deserve that win at all.
Ottawa has some nice pieces, and they seem to have learned a lot against the Oil. Significant improvement over the first game that these two teams played... if Hogberg hadn't been absolutely terrible, Ottawa likely wins this game convincingly.

Tip and a break-away? Those aren't horrible.
That said, I did think he was leaking rebounds. Long shots that were bouncing off him and right up the gut. Against a good team, those end up in the net more often than not. I can't say he gave me a lot of confidence tonight.
Two games in a row where we got the win and a decent number of saves, but the goalie made it look difficult a lot of the time.

Woooooohooooo!!!!
I'll take it! Can't likely get away playing like that when versus real teams, but a win's a win. At the end of they year, they don't remember how ugly the points were!

We really didn't want those 2 points or to get over .500! Lucky the D stepped up.
Now don't give it up right away vs Montreal.

Gotta strap on the work boots.
Leon and Connor won’t be held off the scoresheet for consecutive games. So. There’s that.

Two points in a crap game vs 2 points from a great game?
No difference. Bank’em.

One big plus. Secondary scoring. Khaira gets a lot of love tonight. Big kid played a solid game.
*** to keep on point and not be too optimistic, Turris and Shore looked terrible.

Maybe the D did the scoring tonight so that they could build up some credit for when a good team pillages them later.

So who takes Bouchard out of the lineup? I think he’s sticking for a while.

Bouchard's speed has improved, he's playing good defense, and his poise on the point is the best on the team, and that snap shot? like a Laser!
I'm liking Lagesson as well, plays pretty sound D.
Caleb sits behind this lineup..
.. and when Bear is ready, I'm thinking Lagesson or KooKoo go out.

That was ugly, at least from my own perspective it was an early start so it was bed at 2am instead of getting up to watch.
After a decent 60 minutes last night, tonight we didn't seem to put together a good 10 minutes against them.
That win might be ugly, but it could be an important one for Koski. He's been leaking goals so much of late, and yes we know the D hasn't helped him, but I'm sure he'd like quite a few of those back. Watching him of late, his self confidence seems to have taken a bit of a hit, hopefully that tonight where he kept the goals tally down, made a lot of saves will be the foundation to recovery for him..

Positives for me: Lagesson and Bouchard look like they are here to stay. Really like Lagesson's compete level. Nurse is looking more and more like a top pairing. If Bear gets healthy that gives you a solid top 4 IMO. Then the scrap heap for 5 and 6. Also looks like JJ Karahai is coming out of his three year long slump. Thought he played well. I also love what Archy brings to the table everynight.

I get that it's Ottawa but Ottawa came out and played HARD. They really wanted to win this one. I actually really like this win because it was a win where both McD and Leon weren't very good in my opinion. I thought both top 6 lines really didn't do a hell of a lot. This was a win won by the bottom 6, mostly the Khaira line, the defense and the goalie. When a person describes the Oilers and points out the pros and cons of the line up, the bottom 6, defense and goalie usually would not be in the pros. I read that the Oilers had not won a game in which McD and Leon went pointless since Nov 2017.
I thought Koskinen was good. If he plays like that most nights, he will give his team a chance to win every night. I thought the defense was pretty solid. Sure there was the occasional mistake but generally they were decent defensively and they scored 3 goals.
Khaira had another really good game. He's still awful at faceoffs but other than that he was physical, got the pucks out, got pucks in deep, went in on the forecheck, his line brought energy, wasn't a disaster defensively, solid on the PK and chipped in some offense. Exactly what a bottom 6 guy should be every night. We have all seen stretches where he looks really good before and then it disappears so my fear that this is just his usual spurts and he will go back to being useless again. But I do hope that he got whatever wake up call he needed and he's finally figured out what he has to do to be a full time, effective bottom 6 player because what he's doing right now I feel is easily repeatable for him.
Bouchard is showing he's going to be really good. He just makes plays. When Bear is back, I don't know who comes out because I am not a fan of guys playing on their off side.
