Remember when I said that it would take Drai and Connor to pull out the win?

Needed that one. Kostko has to be pretty tired now, so he's all ready to play tomorrow too :)

Now we wait to see if game 2 versus Ottawa is guaranteed win night.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

I was crapping when Nylander came in on Koskinen alone.
He stopped it.

I actually thought the Oilers played a pretty decent game overall. Not many times I was frustrated for multiple shifts in a row.
A few defensive breakdowns that the Leafs capitalized on but one of the better team games in our end this year, especially considering TO has some firepower.
Kosko with two huge, clutch saves. Maybe his first two massive saves this season. Glad the team won in front of him as it will be good for his, and the teams, confidence.

Great game by Koskinen.
McDavid being McDavid.. best there is
Put the team on his back and humped it over the top..
Leon a force
Nice to have two guys that can drive a line each
.. just need to to do something about the bottom 2 center spots so they aren't a minus..
oh and that PK
A glimmer of hope.
McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!

Strangely... the refs gave the OIL a few breaks two games in a row...
Other than that I thought they were focused the whole game except for leaving that Leaf alone on the PK in front of Koski... wake up boys.
...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

Was JP benched near the end of the 3rd? We’re not going to see Tippett bump JP down for Arch now, are we?
JP isn’t putting up the offense but he’s keeping plays alive, forechecking and attacking pucks. I don’t think he’s a problem on that line.

I don’t think it was a benching, rather the coach putting the “reliable veteran presence” out for the final shift or two of the game. Hopefully he learned why that’s a bad idea when Archibald didn’t bury the late one.
Fun game. Nice win. Now we need another tomorrow.

If I was a fan of neither team, I’d still have to say that was fun game too watch. Felt like a playoff game.

You mean bad like when Tippett did the same thing at the end of the 1st and they scored?

Second before he was on the other side of those guys. Think Marner pooped himself.

They ran last year's PP too. A bit faster passing, players in their natural PP positions, forcing the opposition to collapse their D, getting some high percentage shot opportunities. Really takes the momentum back, unlike the first 9 games of random blender confusion!

That was a little different actually - on that one, McDavid took a shift with the fourth line in place of Shore. An extra shift for the best player in the game in place of the 4C is not the same at all as subbing in a fourth liner for a first liner who was actually having a pretty good game.
My issue with that move at the end of the game is that they're basically telegraphing that they are playing it conservative. They add a player who they feel is maybe less likely to score in the hopes he is more likely to prevent a mistake.

Glad this game was on TV down here, so I could properly judge the reverse retros in proper size, rather than on my laptop or phone
Connor looks great in it in this pic^^

Entertaining win, endorphins are good. blown 2 goal lead was a downer, but there wasn't the inevitable gaffes that have killed the team this year. Leads got some breaks on a couple.
Arch got on the board, should have had the reg win on a nice 2 on 1 with Nuge. Good to see, and Connor with a pair of highlight goals, the PP goal made for some 'wow!' texting right after.
Effort I don't think was lacking up and down unlike other nights.
Just don't frigging let up on the Sens, don't take em lightly boys, and get back to even.
