1st game for Wisconsin tonight, playing center on 2nd line, bags a PP goal.. view here..

Scott Wheeler is impressed with first game..
Quote:

If Dylan Holloway looks like this for the rest of the college hockey season, and the college hockey season can survive, watch out. Looks like a force tonight. Was consistently more impressive on wing last season, so it’s nice to see him imposing himself at C. #Oilers

Holloway has stalled at one goal. Bust?

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

What did Broberg have in his first game? 3 points?

Convert that from D to forward expectations and Holloway needed at least 9 points last night to be on par. Epic fail.

Stalled at goal per game.. wasted pick!

Look at the 2nd clip down for a better angle of tonight's goal..
https://twitter.com/HeresYourReplay/status/13277931742916198 41

One guy that saw the game last night on Lowetide blog said Holloway was the best player on the ice, exceptional speed, first on fore check.. just a blogger but he at least saw the game.. my take away was the reference to speed.. THE vital ingredient for any NHL hopeful...

Quote:

I watched this entire game and Holloway was the best player on the ice.

His speed was dominant and on display shift after shift after shift. His speed carrying the puck through the neutral zone and in the offensive zone for clean entires was intoxicating.

Nice snipe.

Sounds like he's been all over the ice all game long and is really impressing at C.

I got a good feeling about this kid.. with that speed and size, and playing center as well? I'm dreaming of an Alberta version of Nathan McKinnon! ... ok .. ok .. I'll settle down..
The WJHC will be interesting, if he makes it, Hockey Canada has had a bias regarding NCAA candidates over the years, you have to really stand out as a NCAA player to make the squad.

To supplement that report, I guess an Oilers fan put in the effort to isolate all his shifts in the previous game for a video :)

That'll be the last you'll see Holloway in Wisconsin until January, he's off to TC for training camp, Granato is PISSED! He figures Holloway would be better off prepping for TC by playing and training with Wisconsin, than 20 days in TC training camp.. has a point, but this was a Hockey Canada edict.. if he doesn't go, he doesn't play, might last time any of these kids get a chance to play for a TC.. if he gets cut.. like because Hockey Canada needs a QMJHL quota (not like it hasn't happened before), he'll be even more pissed.

Hope it's good for his development still. I do kinda wish he was still playing against older guys along with the long periods of gym and practice time between games that you get in college.

Also enjoyed these hardcore scouting reports from OIlers fans desperate for some Oilers stuff to talk about :)

I do find these lists always have a recency bias...It's hard to see a just-drafted 18 year old as ahead of guys with a couple years of pro hockey under their belt.

Maybe it's meant to show where the peaks are likely to be?

To be fair, this is how the Oilers do work. Every time they select a new slate of picks, they fall in love with the new guys and out of love with the ones from before. We saw this last year with all the commentary on Broberg including a LOT of comparisons to Bouchard who was doing really well in his first pro season. We saw it with Puljujarvi and Yamamoto too as the team tried to wedge a 160 lb teenager in to their first line while giving “tough love” to the teenager they’d tried to do that with the year before.

Holloway with another 2 pts (2A) , 4 SOG (team high), in a 4-1 win vs. Penn St.

7 games, 2G, 5A, 7 pts, 22 SOG

My pants get tighter every time I hear these updates

You'll need a pair of XXXL sweat pants after tonight.

Holloway is 1st Star, 1G, 2A 3 Pts, 6 SOG, in a 5-4 loss to Penn.

Now has 3G 7A 10 pts in 8 games..

I’m not sure if he’ll have the body mass to be reach that kinda comparable but boy oh boy would that be stellar. I know many compare him to Brayden Schenn, and if that’s his path my pants will be flying over YEG like the City Center Airport was still operational.

I think O'Reilly is an awesome player, he's a puck magnet, possession king, and face off wizard.. I noticed some of those skills in Holloway during the cycles during the WJHC, he was pretty good at stripping pucks off guys..

Holloway is 6'-1", 203 lbs
O'Reilly is 6'-1", 216 lbs

So almost a match.. an I think Holloway is actually faster.. he might turn into a beaut!

Yeah I was surprised as well, O'Reilly always plays bigger than he is, super hard on the stick, absolute puck hound, wins puck possession every where on the ice, from face offs to net front, plus he has a quick release, greasy goals

Easy:

If he ends up good: Break-oway

If he ends up bad: Give-oway

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

Dominated tonight for 4 points. 3-9-12 in his last 5 games. Think that puts him at 14 points in 9 games which may be the best ppg in the big 10.

Wasn't the concern going into the draft that he didn't score enough as a rookie 18 yr old playing in a what's mostly a mans league? He's 3rd in team scoring behind Caufield who's played 8 more games than him and is almost a full year older than him. Caufield is already 20, Holloway doesn't turn 20 until September. Then the second in scoring also has played 8 more games than him and is a senior.

Yep - concern was that he hadn't shown enough offence. It's great to see him taking a step forward there this year. Hopefully it continues and he develops well.

Our boy seems to be developing. 18 points in 11 games now, highest PPG in the Big-10. He had 17 points in 35 games last season.

Went all McDavid tonight for a goal

Game #2 vs Minni Golden Gophers... Minni leading the division..

Still 1st period... D. Holloway already has THREE (3) pts!!! 1G plus 2 A's
