Aww man. That's really sad. Rest in peace Joey. You are a legend and sang the anthem better than anyone.

Ugh, that's about right for 2020. Sad to hear, he was a huge part of the Oilers and the city I'll always remember 2006 and every home game him belting out the anthem.

RIP

Sad times. I drive by his mural regularly. I’ll think of him fondly tomorrow when I do again.

The only member of the OBC I still respect. RIP.

Not the first bit of news that any Oilers fan wants to wake up and hear. Joey was so much part of the fabric of this club. When fans are allowed back in, the club will put on some tribute to him for sure.

RIP Joey

Just when you think this year couldn't get any worse, 2020 comes back and fires out another nut kick.

RIP Joey. I am sure the impact he had by inspiring people with disabilities will be seen for way longer than his time on earth.

Apparently it was #98. Bernie Nicholls considered wearing it in New Jersey in honour of Joey. He really did touch a lot of lives. It's pretty incredible to see all the tweets from all those players of so many different eras.

It is a real shame that this happens during COVID - I think it would have been gratifying for the family to see so many old Oilers and Esks turn up to remember him.

Yeah this is what I was thinking, if not a funeral, then a memorial service would be well attended. Gathering for a funeral or memorial service is a big part of the grieving process and paying respects for a lot of people. The fact that that can't happen just adds to the mental toll of 2020.

I always thought of Joe Moss as a younger guy for some reason, it always surprises me to hear his age....then I consider how long he's been a prominent figure in Edmonton.

Apparently he broke his hip in a fall in late July. Too bad, it means he wasn't able to be part of the bubble. Would have been nice for him. RIP Joey.

I read that the average life expectancy of someone with downs syndrome is 50-60 years so Moss was at the high end of that. I have to think he had one hell of a life as he has more experiences than most of us would ever have happen. Just sucks it had to happen this year with Covid taking out some of the potential celebration that I know at least the Oilers would do. I am sure once they are allowed too, they will do something big. Just sucks it will have to wait a bit.

Celebrity deaths don't usually affect me much, but this one hits hard. Those TV adds in the 80's with Joey and Wayne.... Classic. Sail on Joey.

I'm crushed by Joey's passing. The hits of 2020 just keep coming.

It's affected me so much more than I thought it would.

He was a shining light for the Oilers/Eskimos and this loss will be felt for a long time.

RIP Joey.

Gregor is advocating for La Bamba to be the next goal/victory song because it was Joey's favourite tune.

This is easy to get behind, a great tribute and a catchy feel good song. I hope the Oil go for it.

Fantastic stories about Joey at the end of Gregors show yesterday. The peanut butter capers. His show ran late last night.. I’m definitely going back to the podcast to catch what I missed.

Today has brought me a lot of joy also listening to the stories. Dude was just awesome. Wish I could have met him. He’s an icon.

RIP JOEY.
