Gotta keep the drive and work ethic up tonight. Connor was absolute beast mode Monday... can the entire team harness that? Gotta be Kosk between the popes. Klef/Lars improving would go a long way in this teams chance to advance.

Game one was bad, game 2 was better in a lot of ways but a lot of areas to improve. Hopefully Chicago had their best game at the start and the Oilers keep improving.

Fully agree on Koskinen getting the start, no reason to go back to Smith. Unless of course one of the Popes is free. If so we should start him

This is an actual rare time in history where there is two Popes.

2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.
2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!

Meh - not that rare! There've been dozens of anti-popes, including one schism of the Catholic church that lasted from 1378-1449! Over half a century with multiple popes! And at one point in the schism, multiple parties trying to find a solution met and named a third pope - who immediately excommunicated the other two (and was excommunicated by the other two) and nothing really changed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Schism

History is fascinating, and often hilarious.

Anyhow, here's hoping all the popes bless the Oilers and help us on to victory tonight!

Just need to keep doing more of what they were doing in game #2, with the obvious exception of less penalties.

The Kass/AA/Sheehan line can keep doing what they've been doing; they hem the Hawks in their own end and tire them out.

If Draisaitl and Yamamoto can find their scoring touch, then this series gets a lot more easier. IMO Draisaitl has improved as the series has gone on, so I wouldn't be surprised if he nets a goal or two tonight.

If Koskinen plays as well as he has, which isn't great but isn't bad, then we should be good.

It's wild. A group of buddies and I will be putting in $10/game. I can only imagine the jackpot explodes when the pre-game starts and they announce that it's at $5M+ with 3 hours to go. How many games until it hits $10M?!

This thing is an absolute monster on a runaway train! Haha what is with Edmonton and 50/50's? Ours likely to hit $8mil tonight and cgy's was a measly $70K yesterday lol. Why do we have to be SO much better than cgy at everything almost like we can't help it

Oilers won 6-3 last game and the team still hasn't got all cylinders firing
Oilers can get a lot better, just a matter of time, like tonight!

LD and Yamo haven't started rolling yet..
Larsson and Kbomb still haven't got back to pre-covid level, made progress last game
AA starting to figure things out..
Kassian is still asleep, playoff alarm bell will eventually go off..

I tried to buy in on that, blocked, just local, bummer!
If Oilers wanted even more money they could go outside Alberta, it'd be $20M!

My guess would be the Alberta Gaming Commission had something to do with it. Can't have the Oilers Community Foundation cramping the sales of LottoMax and6/49

Ticket count versus dollar too I guess as the tickets have different values ($0.25 - $5.00). Time for the team to up their license to a full fledged lottery lol.

Would have been nice if they did a bunch of 1M capped draws. More chances to win, don't have to run out of numbers/tickets or whatever the heck happened here, hehe. More for charity, and can still all be amazed by the overall amount of CERB money that people spent on an Oilers 50/50 in one day ;)

I wonder if this will change the future game day 50/50s? It does seem that this grew bigger and faster than people expected.

Sure would be nice to know what the Oilers Foundation does with its money...

Sure would be nice to know what the Oilers Foundation does with its money...

I don't want to do the math, but I'm sure between this game and last game, they've made close to their yearly 50/50 revenue.

Huge money making opportunity. No way they don't fight to have it online once pandemic is over.

I'm hoping for lots of goals again so my son stays up and watches with me. He's only 6, but I've seen him stay up later before haha. He accused the Oilers of "playing just for fun" after the first period last game haha.

Just started his hockey journey and he has the right idea. He's already one of us.

It's not great. I wouldn't call it a scam, but I wouldn't say they're a great organization to give money to.

Generally I find all charitable arms of large corporations to be... less than what you'd expect of a charity and more of what you would expect if a large corporation was using a charity to dodge taxes and engage in PR. That's my opinion though.

One of the reasons the Senators Foundation is said to have split from the Senators is because of the admin costs that the Senators were putting against their charity. Oilers aren't as bad as that (Flames are somehow even more than the Senators), but they still have very high costs. And I don't think there's a lot of transparency as to where all the money goes.

I will say, I am skeptical of a lot of the donation charities you have run through grocery stores, fast food chains, etc. If you give Safeway a dollar, it's rung in to the till same as anything else, so hits revenue. It's under $20, so no tax receipt for you. Then when Safeway donates to the charity, I'm pretty sure they declare the whole amount - it's technically correct - they collected and gave the whole dollar figure to a charity. However, if they can then deduct the entire amount (and I don't see anything that would keep them from doing so, they are generating profits for themselves with the tax shield that provides.

This is so odd us being on home ice as the road team... I'm guessing no news on what injury is causing Larsson to miss the game? Maybe he's been carrying something which has prevented him from being at 100% in the opening games.

There was a play towards the end of last game where he looked uncomfortable afterwards. Can’t remember the details just that I noticed.

Chicago’s broadcast said the blackhawks got to use the Oilers dressing room for this. I would hate that.

How many dressing rooms are there at Rogers? Well.. how many are ‘NHL quality’?

"Janet Riopel, a board chair of the foundation, stated in a Thursday news conference that she expected the foundation might take a hit due to COVID-19 and a lack of games, which would impact the money they can donate to local charities.

Instead, she's been pleasantly surprised this won't be the case, and the foundation will be donating the extra 50/50 playoff winnings to non-profits and organizations in downtown Edmonton. They will decide on how this will be distributed at an upcoming meeting."

Hope there is nothing like the sponsorship scandal arising from this.
