The hook at last comes out. What a killer of momentum that weak goal was.

Koskinen in.

I don’t care if Smith never plays another minute as an Oiler.

This ain't playoffs. I've seen playoffs. Good thing they are calling this a play in. Toews skating around like he's going through the motions. Obvious he voted against this NHL/NHLPA return to play plan. He looks sad they are winning.

That rush by Darnell (his life matters). We should see more of that.

Funny how the Hawks will win this game through a willingness to send everything to the net early, even though Crawford was the colder goalie comin' in.

Smith may be done as an NHLer now. This collapse in the play-ins may seal his fate.

If I ask nicely, can you keep the tongue in cheek political, covid, BLM comments to the OT board? The world around us is pretty crap this year, one of the few upsides is being able to watch some hockey.

I have been pretty surprised by some of the posts in OT but those are easy enough to avoid, please dont bring it into the main boards as well.

I'm trying to have the difficult conversation. You can't push this issue under the rug man.

Cool, just have that difficult convo in the proper place, not in EVERY single thread.
Topics for this one;
- did half the team think this was a second exhibition game
- why did Smith start, has he played his last minutes as an Oiler
- will be see a Russell starfish?
- can anyone cover a Hawk in front of the net?
- Is never too soon to hear Chelsea Dagger again?

Well not sure about the rest but Russell is looking very good out there, couple good offensive chances and then getting back to cover.

Agree he has been good, likely the best defenceman on the team this game.

Obviously we should start Smith in game 2 still. He will be at 100% battling battler mode

Team seems to play different when they all aren't expecting their goalie to do stupid random crap. It's weird

Well the boys now know what a veteran cup winning team looks like, and what elevating for the playoffs is really all about. Great job for Chicago, Edmonton obviously thought the would mail it in.....wrong.

Do you guys think the Oilers would've shot more if Crawford remained "unfit to play?"

This is easily one of the worst Oilers games I've watched this season. Completely unprepared to match up against a team that I believe is the youngest team in the qualifier, no?

Excellent preparation from all elements of this franchise. Way to show up.

As shockingly poor as we've been, we've had no luck with bounces or calls things can only get better.

Why is Kassian worse than Lucic at helping get pucks out of our zone

NBC made a good point, that the Oilers just aren't generating second chances, they are one and done once they get the zone.

Got that familiar ol' watch something else feeling, brought on by the play of the Oilers and the totality of the content of the internission, having to watch dirtbags like Bieksa provide the intermission commentary, then another dirtbag become a SJW. Sorry, Evander Kane is still a dirtbag. I think the BLM theme might be slightly overdone so far, is this going to be the way throughout? Ron McLean, who nodded his head in agreement with Grapes for decades while waxung poetic, is now the wokest old white guy outside of perhaps Joe Biden.

As a production, make the nod, sure, but it will wear thin. I'll duck now.

Win a damn period, Oilers.
