OILFANS! Hockey. IS. Back.
Puck drop 8:30pm MT
https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/edm-vs-cgy/2020/07/28/2019011 003
From the Flames, we’ve heard that Talbot and Rittich will both get time in the nets tonight and Tkachuk spoke about how heading into the playoffs teams want to go in on a high and they have to treat this game like a playoff game.
From the Oilers, Tipp has said they’d see how the skate goes today before showing his hand on the plan for goalies. Tipp did say they’ll dress 13 forwards (Nygard the extra) and 7 dmen tonight. Heard from Kass who said they have to play smart tonight as they look forward to a good series against Chicago.

Yeah in the old days we might see Canada Cup tournaments start in August, but yes, surreal for sure. I'm itching for some decent sports on TV though, hope they deliver.

Do you get the strong coffee out? Or a strategic day time nap? :)

I'll go with the coffee tonight, the first game starts in about 30 mins so desperate for hockey I'll watch anything. During the regular season and in the play-offs I'll be heading to bed around 10pm to get some sleep. Next week I'll be watching as much of the play in games as I can.

The return of Cuthbert is tonight as well. I never minded Quinn honestly. I know he made mistakes all the time, but he good every other way. Cuthbert is obviously better though.

This is true! Cuthbert is one of the best, I’m all aboard for the broadcast team the western canadian teams get for this. Louie is one of my fav colour guys, Simpson another. But Cuthbert and Debrusk tandem? Yes. Please.

Have they said what channels this will be on? Is CBC getting any games?

All the regional SporstNets and SportsNet 1 have the Toronto game then the Edmonton game on my channel guide.
I haven't seen an official broadcast schedule so am unsure if CBC or CityTV will also broadcast games as we keep going.

First 'first round', CBC only on Saturday night. I'm assuming that's the way it'll stay because games will be scheduled throughout the day and not against each other.

I'm sure both coaches have the same message to the teams. Don't do anything stupid, don't get hurt and don't get suspended. It'll be a game of ping pong.

I'm mostly sure the NHL would quietly tell both teams the same thing. No one wants a distraction while the hypes train really starts picking up steam.
I would imagine Marchand has been told not to lick people too. "We're in a damn pandemic, Brad".

Very cool. I have hung around Bear a few times over the years, first time I met him was when he was around 15. Always has been a very thoughtful, well spoken person. This is the kind of role model I want for my kids.

I didn't think that was possible given his look in March. I've grown a half beard twice during the pandemic and I've got this ridiculous swirl on my lower neck in the rh side, its low enough down by the collar line that I can trim it, but if I really was a hobo (never know, couple more years of this and stress, there's a chance), I'd let er buck and see what happens.
