Significant enough he will miss games.
Ohhh jeeze.

Well so much for thinking he was fine after watching him blow by guys on Saturday.
With the standings being so tight, this could literally end their playoff chances if they lose a few games in a row. Disaster.

Someone calm me down...someone calm me down...
Can the Oilers win without him? Even stay .500 for the 3 weeks to give them a shot?!

get the hyperbaric chamber out for Drai. Dude is gonna be playing a lot for 2-3 weeks.
This sucks. Guess it is a charlie horse? Guess you can't follow in the great ones footsteps without getting one of those at some point.

It's either a charlie horse or his knee is ripped to shreds. It's really hard to say.

This is far from ideal. One wonders if the Oilers are downplaying a more serious injury here. They've only done it twice already with the same player with the same body part in the last 8 months now....
Does McDavid actually return in 3 weeks?

Get McDavid in the chamber right now.
If Katz hasn't already bought him one, why hasn't he bought McDavid a chamber he can have in his home. As soon as he gets home from the game, just go in there for 30 mins.

I do really, really hate that they made a mid-season documentary about that. Just seemed like they were asking for trouble, and in the couple weeks since it aired, we saw him get kneed by Giordano and then this. For a team that won't ever give much more information than upper or lower body injury, it seemed so odd to tell the world that their superstar's knee was held together with pieces of gum and tape.
I could definitely see the Oilers deciding that this was the natural successor program to Oil Change though and keep it running!

Karma. Make an injury and cover-up/unnecessary lie look like some sort of supernatural feat, and you lose.
My guess is they're amputating his leg.

This whole pissing match the Edmonton media is having with the Oilers is getting a bit annoying. How are they supposed to know what the injury is until they get it tested? He got an MRI yesterday and they were told the next day of the results. What would the media guys like, to be in the doctors room?

Probably not. Going to the doctor's office would be pretty time intensive. I think they just want an instant and accurate text message, with relative info, in a tweetable form. They're the Oilers' PR staff and they're trying to operate without guidance. I can sympathize, that must be hard.

It really is funny how mad they got about being the Oilers' patsies for a whole summer even though it sure seems like no one bothered to confirm what they were being told. "McDavid is fine? Cool. See you in Kelowna".

I agree. The media act like they are owed something. Like it's the team responsibility to do their job for them.
As a fan, I of course want to know everything but at the same time I don't blame the team for not wanting everyone to know every single detail. I don't need dirt bags like Tkachuk knowing where player X on the Oilers is nursing something so he can give them a cheap shot on it.

Well... the next few games will likely secure McD as the Hart MVP, can't see this team win many games until he gets back, could get ugly.
I expect McD back after this road trip... #freakofnature

I'm going to try on the Hat of Optimism for a change. I think this current crop of Oilers has what it takes to battle against this adversity for their captain and to show the hockey community that the Oilers are more than just 97 featuring the rest of N'Sync. I fear for Drai's life while he plays 26 minutes a night, but we finally have vets on this team with actual talent as opposed to the vets of the last few years who signed on for their final twilight contract years.
We'll be in a playoff spot in 3 weeks.

If you’re correct in this... Leon Draisaitl needs serious consideration for the Hart.

And the lost season, which was almost salvaged by McDavid and Draisatl, is now lost again. We will fall out of the race while he recovers and so we won’t add at the deadline. McDavid will come back and we’ll get some garbage time wins and our draft pick will be middle of the pack.
Sure would’ve been nice to have Hall right now. Even though he is a LOSER.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

So basically, this season has become a write-off. Got it. Oh well, I’ve still got a good team to root for...

"Sabres think the suck is their ally? They merely adopted the suck. The Oilers were born in it...molded by it."

We still have Drai - the most underrated player in the league. The true MVP of the Oilers. He has been better then McDavid on a good many nights this year.
