bleh. Kassian got his arse owned that game. Tkachuk living in his head rent free.

Koskinen shaky all night. Wasn't a great time for it.

Not enough PED’s used by the team tonight, that’s what I say...

Oh well. I still don’t think Kassian is an idiot.

Could have been a careless high stick that caused the pp goal. I’ll take a thumping on Tkachuk over that.

Wish we could’ve killed that PP. I loved the licken Kassian gave Avery.

I mean Tkachuk.

In an alternative universe we draft Tkachuk over Jesse. One dreams of Kass and Tkachuk on the same team.

Wish Kass was trying to get Tkachuk back with a sneaky hit like Tkachuk was throwing on him all night. Tkachuk will always turtle, you're never gonna do damage trying to fight him, and will always end up with the extra calls against you. Tkachuk lives to turtle. If he's turtling, he's winning.

That I can agree with (waiting for revenge) but we know what we get with Kass, the good and the bad.

This is a battle in a long war of a season. They werent pushed around or dominated, there is reason to believe they can actually win against the Flames in the future.

This true, but 44 doesn’t play like that. Hell. Only a handful of guys in the league are near Tkachuk’s level of super pest. One being his brother.

Can't believe this as$clown had drawn more penalties than McDavid. With the suspension to injure him, I'd say....kidding....(not)

I realize the puke likes to get in people’s head, but I think part of his actions tonight were payback for the embarrassing thumping he received in the last game.......only to have it happen to him again in consecutive games.

It was awesome watching him turtle and cover his head like a pussy in slow motion HD after the game. My only solace I guess.

EDIT: umm. I don’t think it was previous game. Anyway I’m pretty certain the puke didn’t forget it.

I don't want to call out Koski to much, but the goal that cost us was the mix up with him and Bear. Between them, they could have prevented that. Yes he looked a bit soft tonight, but he's not had many of them this year, lets just hope it's a bit of rust and he jumps back onto the wagon in the same way Smith has done on this trip.

Just seen Kassian call Tkachuk a pussy on the post game interviews and that he should try and play him at his own game next time. I like the attitude, but if he does that and Tkachuk plays it right Kassian could end up in big trouble, he's got to be smarter than that. However, the only thing missing from tonight's game was people hitting big, it was very strange in that respect. No penalties until the Kassian call.

I hate losing to that shower of crap down the road, but this road trip has had far to many positives for us to let us feel it's a let down because of tonight. A 3-1-1 return was more than I think anyone expected and has given us some confidence back, let's grab that confidence and run with it to the end of the season. That lot are not a good team and they'll lose a few more games for sure. This run to the end of the season is going to be fun.

Koskinen played well in the first. Could’ve easily been down 3-0 ten minutes in. I don’t think Smith keeps it 2-2.

Not a terrible effort, that 4 minute penalty, sure.....but worth it in a way to see that POS pummelled by Kassian, like g2k indicated.

The difference in the game was in my opinion moreso goaltending, Talbot made more big stops, Koski looked mediocre and shaky.

Gotta rally and win quick here, don't turn it into a skid or you're out of this again.

Rough game for Bear - tough time to have one of those young d-man games, but in the long run, that will be something he learns from.

Sucks having to play a rookie D 25 minutes because our D is so shallow. Tippett doesn't trust that 3rd pair at all.

Hope Bear is soaking all this experience up. Gonna take a while before he really becomes a consistent solid top 4 guy though. Whole year is gonna be a constant trial by fire for him. Doubt much help is coming.

Could you? Russell is the Russell of defensemen. She he tries hard but he just can’t getter done. And jones is still so green (and I don’t mean Mike Green).

I would not. That 3rd pair is hurtin. Russell/Benning was passable at least. Russell with basically anyone else is a disaster.

Fun game. I like hockey.

Too bad about the result, too bad the team isn't better, too bad the Pacific so tight... but the Oilers are becoming fun again.

My few observations after the game now that I've calmed down.

1. Kosk- shaky from the start.

2. This team as a whole couldnt make a crisp pass or recieve one in the first half of the game.

3. Gonna take slack for this but when did Draisaitl start turning pucks over and plays die on his stick more than last years Lucic.

4. Bear made mistakes a rookie makes, but those should help him and I'd still rather have him on the ice instead of Russel.

5. I wish more of Kassians punches had landed.

I don't know what the rule is but I'll say this.

Being the player that Tkachuk is, it's pretty weird he can turtle his way to a 4 minute powerplay. Well played move by him. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Kassian is getting a hearing for the instigator play. League says Tkachuk hits were legal on a puck carrier, so nothing for him. First hit I think was borderline, but watching again, he does get the shoulder first, which causes Kassian's head to whip a bit, and he doesn't do up his strap properly, so the helmet goes flying. Next 2 hits were to the side, the one leading to the fight Kassian was bent over again causing another spin and loose helmet ejection, hehe.

Hope Kassian isn't suspended 3+ games, or be misses his chance to redeem himself in the next BOA.

Maybe it’s the years and years of losing talking but I don’t mind missing out on the two points for Kassian to get some payback. Tkachuk is never gonna fight him squarely and we aren’t winning the cup this year. Honestly the Bear/Koskinen gaff was more to blame for the loss anyways since it directly led to a goal against.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

I just wish Kassian was the guy throwing those hits, making someone on the flames go nuts. ANd we know by now that Tkachuk has zero shame and probably is still laughing about Kassians "payback".

Not only do we give the 4 min PP (actually lucky it wasn't a 5 min major), we are forced to make McDavid's line have an extra garbage winger for half the 3rd while we are trying to come back, and that may extend to multiple games now too if he's suspended.

He accepted two hits before that and had enough by the third. It doesn't really look like it, but I'd say that Kassian showed restraint.

If you are going to lay big hits on one a guy 3 times before period 3, it's pretty likely that somebody is going to challenge somebody. If Matt Tkachuk has any integrity like every other player, he accepts the challenge and it's a fighting major for both. But Matt Tkachuk gonna Matt Tkachuk.

He's a rat for sure, and the league is more and more moving towards a state where the rats have all kinds of ways to come out on top of confrontations, as long as they don't have any shame. It sucks, but guess you need to figure out how to not get screwed over by it.

I personally blame all the whiny ex-players with brain damage. They started this movement where fighting started becoming more of a liability to the league than letting rats run the show.

I agree. Kassian can agitate and should have gone after Johnny or Monahan instead. I bet you could bait tkachuk since you know he’s always looking for that hit. Give up the puck and hit him with the reverse body check.

I watched the sequence during the Canucks game on sportsnet today. I think the argument in defense is the Flames' player made no attempt at the puck. It was a dangerous charging or boarding infraction that the referees missed. The player turned his body 180 degrees prior to impact attempting to become a wrecking ball. The Oilers should ask for an attempt to injure review.

Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

Those are hits we celebrate when Kassian makes them, especially when he was running around like a wild man in the 2017 playoffs. Frankly, I'm shocked that Kassian kept leaving himself open like that. I guess he's on a top line and needs to score, but it's still weird how he wasn't out looking for those hits himself just after taking the 1st one. Hope he gets a chance to on the 29th.

If the league is serious about reducing concussions they should be taking a look at those Tachuck blind side hits on Kassian where his head snap like a whip. Those types of hits cause more concussions than any fight ever will. You don't have to hit you're head for brain damage to occur. I thought the first one especially was worthy of a suspension for intent to injure. Luckily he wasn't hurt but once again he took the bait that resulted in another loss to the friggin flames.( just like the one last season or whenever it was ) You'd think Kassian would have learned his lesson the first time around. I hate that Tachuck is so good at baiting other teams players into taking penalties and getting away with it but there was a lot on the line in the game that got flushed because of Kassian's lack of discipline and smarts. It was a tie game at the time. The right way to go about it would be to bide you're time and even the score when an opportunity presents itself that doesn't hurt the team.
