If this team can ever get going 5v5... man oh man.

I think that is reason in itself to go get Taylor Hall.

PP on fire! Chiasson scoring more would help this team's depth issue. I hope he gets to even half of what he got last year.

Bob Marley and the (Hartford) Wailers.

He’s likely back to pp2 time once Nuge is back. So he, like 80% of the lineup, will have to figure it out offensively if he’s to have much of a shot at that.

Team defense is a nice addition this season though.

Watching Larsson play now, it makes me shudder to think that at one time I actually thought getting him for Hall had its benefits. Chia utterly screwed the team to get a slight improvement on D, and it wasn't nearly enough to make up for the loss of scoring ability that Hall provided. Pistol Pete should never work in this league again unless it's for the Flames or Leafs.

He was a large part of that playoff run in 2017. Was a +21 that season and had 6 points in the playoffs playing top minutes with Klef.

It pains me to say this, because I couldn’t imagine how difficult it would have been... but he hasn’t seemed like that same player (from the 2016-17 year) since his dad passed away while he visiting in early 2018. Probably unrelated to his current play, but if he’s still mentally dealing with that massive event in his life, it could explain a lot.

This period has given me flashbacks from Wednesday. Thank gosh for Koski rebounding.

Ya, I think a bunch of us tried to convince ourselves he was an elite shutdown D on a fantastic contract. It made us feel better and took a bit of the sting out of the trade.
I even convinced myself he was a first pairing guy with the right partner, specifically one who could move the puck.
A few years later he is looking closer to Russell, an overpaid third pairing player.

I can't wait to see Bouchard make it to the big league finally. The Oil need a true #1 D-man, and Evan is as close as they've got to that right now, or at least he will be once he's fully ripened in the minors.

Yeah, we could quite easily be down 5-2 here. Team looks neutered 5v5.

Big fan of this Remenda-Debrusk combo during the intermissions tonight.

Why do I feel like that puck would have been whistled down 3 seconds before it went into the net if it was the Oilers attacking?

Because we’ve yet to earn the respect of the refs and see this occur often
