Sigh, I had a sinking feeling that was a goal by the Dys. Video review did its job in catching it across the goal line.

Kassian is lucky Kozari wasn't reffing tonight. Easy Kozari 5 min call there. Basically the same play he kicked Lucic out for last year, maybe worse.

Damage done though for Kassian running around trying to get someone back after Edler hit him.

Kassian didn't even make contact with Tanev, blown call by stripes, again.
I'd love to see Edler get smoked.

I guess last game of a super long road trip is less damaging to effort than first game at home after a long road trip.

Or maybe the Oilers are the only team that has a million excuses for playing poorly.

Agreed. Also, underrated skill for Bear to kick it to his blade first.

Nice to see it was Edler that had ahold of McDavid's stick, finally lets go just in time for the pass to be right on McDavid's stick.

Indeed. Both Canucks D back on to the goalies lap while watching MCDavid, Pettersson tries to bear hug Draisaitl, allows Kass to walk all the way in.

Speaking of the Pettersson hug technique. He has been shadowing Draisaitl a bit and grabbed him a few times.
After that goal watch Drai coast around the net and sneak a quick elbow in to defend the hug. It is the 2nd or 3rd time he has done it tonight. Nice to see a little pushback from our stars on that type of strategy.

No. They played Wednesday night. Two full days between getting blown up to follow it up by letting a Canucks team skate circles around ya. You want to be a playoff team, you don’t use excuses like ‘it’s our first game home after a long trip’. Sorry. But. No, no breaks.

It's not up to you sir, thems the Oilers rules.

The following are approved excuses for bad efforts:
- End of a long road trip
- First game back after a long road trip
- Too many (4+) days off between games
- Second game of B2B
- 3rd game in 4 days
- Major Holidays within the last week, especially ones that traditionally have turkey dinner
- NHLPA mandated day off 1 or 2 days before the game
- Afternoon game

I'm sure I'm missing some, but those are the most common.

Well, they can have the bad effort excuse and still win. You just have to give them way more credit for battling through the excuse.

That Friedman mustache was pretty rough.

Think it’ll take that long?

Ok, let's keep letting Smith fight through his injury. He's a battler!

Wow, a generally terrible outing, Smith not sharp at all but obviously want Koski saved for tomorrow.

Top line with some shabby playmaking, PP sucks and just a non appearance from the bottom 9 forwards.

I dont think Nuge would have saved this game, but he can't get back soon enough, and the top line would do well to stop giving the puck away, as has been the trend.

Morning comes early, enough of this.

The PP sucks because Tippet puts out two guys with slow feet, 39 & 18, no puck movement, have no idea why 44 isn't out there on the #1 PP. I'd even throw Bear out there once in a while.

M. Smith is really coming down from his early season high, Koski staring o pull away from him.

Hey I got a question, how come Chaisson is wearing a cage? He couldn't have been hit in the head by Grave's on that hit could he, I mean the two refs didn't even give him a penalty, so it couldn't have happened...#OnlyOilersGetPKS

Took a shoulder to the chin for sure. That Graves is a big dude. Just a bigger man hitting a smaller one as they say. As Kozari clearly agrees with. Of course the same principle couldn't be applied to Larsson getting his arm up on a guy 8 inches shorter than him and getting him on the chin.
