As per TSN 1260, probably from the Oilers.com
Bouchard called up. Bear sent down, which may be unrelated.
Details to follow when someone gets them.

What the hell? When did this happen? And Bear sent down? To be honest, I don't like a single thing about your post.

He took a hard slapshot off the foot/ankle during a fourth line mad scramble/runaround panic/vintage Oilers' defensive meltdown. I think he was the only guy who knew whuhduhfuh was going on and took one for the team.

Wow is that an inexperienced backend.
There's no way Benning is coming out. He had two assists and a decent game, despite playing with the team's worst defenceman.

Two raw rookies and Matt Benning on that right side. Not great.
Mark Pysyk is a healthy scratch in Florida. Expiring deal at the end of the year. Probably worth a phone call.

Don't know much about this Pysyk guys but have seen others talking about him as a possibility. My question is whether he would actually help or if he would be Manning Part Two?

Pysyk is a former Oil King. 5 seasons he played for them. It's only a matter of time until he's an Oiler.

The analytics community LOVES him. I think he is probably overvalued somewhat in those circles, but he is affordable, has an expiring contract at the end of the season, and has some NHL experience and success. I think if the price is right, I'd prefer that than banking hopes on Joel Persson, Kris Russell, and Matt Benning.
EDIT: He may be regressing. He was an "analytics darling" (Buffalo GMs comment) when he was moved, but looks like he is getting passed over in Florida and hasn't been the same player there. Lots in the community still think highly of him, but it might be more on past reputation than current play. Basically sounds like last year he was another version of Adam Larsson or a RH Kris Russell. https://www.therattrick.com/2019/02/20/florida-panthers-shou ld-start-shopping-mark-pysyk/amp/

I’ve had just about enough of other teams’ over-paid healthy scratches.
I’ve never been sold on Pysyk. Oilers media love him because he was an Oil King but he’s another low offence guy with questionable puck-moving abilities. I’d rather play the inexperienced guys.

The good news is we now have a built-in reason to tank the season.

I want them to pick Drysdale so the announcers can trip over passing plays between him and Draisatl

Apparently Bear being sent down is a paper transaction which means he will not actually go to Bakersfield, particularly since word is that Persson should be good to go for Saturday.
First game of the season, and the Oil had to pay for their win by losing one of their main D on LTIR. This is serious horse%@$#.

Update on Oilers defenceman Adam Larsson. It's actually a fractured right fibula. He'll be out of action for six to eight weeks.
Assume from that big block. Did that sequence start because of some fail arse plays by a 4th liner?

The term "fractured fibula" makes my skin crawl. Better than I femur, I guess, but I still don't like it.
Also: dude played half a game on a fracture fibula. Damn.

Must be just a crack, no displacement, otherwise they'd need a plate and screws, should be ok after some mending.. not sure about that D though... Thankfully E. Bear is looking NHL legit.

Sounds like the Bear/Bouchard move was a straight up paper transaction to maximize the LTIR. Could it be that the Oilers are actually learning how to maximize the cap??
