Edmonton Oilers @EdmontonOilers
The #Oilers have hired Jim Playfair as an associate coach. Playfair brings 10 years of @NHL coaching experience, most recently working with Dave Tippett in Arizona from 2011 to 2017

Hope we get to see some of this!

On a more alarming note though:

Jim Playfair
Defense -- shoots L
Born May 22 1964 -- Fort Saint James, BC
[55 yrs. ago]
Height 6.03 -- Weight 185 [191 cm/84 kg]
Drafted by Edmonton Oilers
- round 1 #20 overall 1982 NHL Entry Draft

Bad combo. We are already loaded up on LHD, and he is technically 80's Oilers OBC.

"We need to get better immediately. That starts today"
- Lowe, 2013

"Next year I would forecast as another developmental year"
- MacT, 2015

5 x $5,000,000

A former Flamer! And a member of the old boys club? Some heads may explode...

Collecting failed Flames coaches. I wonder what 'Artley is doing?

All I know is Robyn Regehr hated him as a head coach, but that was years ago.

You hear lots of former players talk about their time with Hitch and how they hated him when they played but do nothing but praise him for making them better players.
I don't care if the players are besties with the coaches, they just need to play well and become better.

His quote from what I remembered was something along the lines "He's a #%#% idiot and we tuned him out by December"

Again. This was a long time ago and an associates role is much different than a head coach's. Some people will never be good HC's, but are great complimentary guys. He hasn't seen much playoffs in his career as a coach.

The jury is out.

You just have to trust the process here. I have no doubt that he was autonomously selected with full autonomy and that's what's really important.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.
