Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Your 2019 Hart Trophy Finalists: Crosby (PIT), Kucherov (TB) & McDavid (EDM).
Maybe McDavid has a shot because peoples feel so bad for him? :) Think Kucherov ends up running away with this one though with like 80+% of 1st place votes.
Dimitri Filipovic @DimFilipovic
Can't even use the postseason argument against McDavid this year, he won as many playoff games as the two other guys

"We need to get better immediately. That starts today"
- Lowe, 2013
"Next year I would forecast as another developmental year"
- MacT, 2015
5 x $5,000,000

That Dimitri guy tells it like it is. But yes, Kucherov runs away with it this year.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

If you were starting a new team today, which of those three do you pick. It's not even close. He deserves to win it but all they look at is numbers.

Kucherov wins the Hart. McDavid might still have a shot at the Ted Lindsay though.

The Hart to me is a joke just because it typically doesn't come down to what the award should truly be about. Most valuable player to your team should mean if you take that player off that team, what happens to them. If Kucherov isn't on Tampa, their team is still stacked. If Crosby is off the Pens, their team is still really good. If McDavid is off the Oilers, they might set records for how many games they lose.
They should honestly change the wording of the Hart to be "who in the eyes of the media had the best season."

The rest of the team sucking, doesn't make a player more valuable. I'd come at it from a different angle. If a team is full of great players and a player is turning the tide amidst a great team, then that player is more impacting and therefore more valuable.
Dustin Penner was by far the Oilers' MVP one year, because those teams were terrible, I don't think anyone thought he deserved consideration for the Heart.
That said, a player being a more integral part of a team is more valuable than a player just being a sniper and racking up points. So in that way, I'd vote CMac.
2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.
2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!
