Per Ellliote Friedman:

"Added information on this: McDavid suffered a PCL injury. He does not need surgery and is expected to be ready for camp — which is great to hear."

PCL. Wasn’t that the construction company that built Rogers Place? Maybe this is all just advertising.

I almost feel like teams should shut star players down once they’re out of a race, even if unofficially. Then again I’m a tier 5 fan saying this haha.

This thread is a mess. I actually thought I posted a drunk message about Notre Dame in the McDavid thread earlier today.

Better tendon to tear that most, but PCL can still be annoying. Hope it heals completely for him and he doesn't have to deal with annoying little pains from tweaking his knee for the rest of his career.

Yep, I am far from an elite athlete but have played hockey for the last decade or so with a torn PCL.

It causes discomfort and if I fall the wrong way it hurts like hell for about 90 seconds but it is not nearly as bad as the ACL injuries I had.

I'm so happy that they've decided to rehab his leg. It's very valuable information that the Oilers sent. They talked to more than one doctor! Hooray!

Does suck to see stuff with such historical value destroyed though. Seriously though, who was the idiot back in the 1100's that made the shortsighted decision to use so much wood?

I was in Notre Dame during evening mass once, the place was full, so much history, 800 years of it, you could feel it. I actually don't recall a lot of wood in there, all I remember was stone. The worst part could be the spiritual relics that may be lost.

I'm in Paris right now. Went down there last night, and it was one of the saddest/most eerie scenes I've eve experienced. There were thousands upon thousands of people gathered, some crying, and then thousands started singing. Sad to see the destruction, but thankfully they got a lot of the artifacts out and most of the structure is still intact.

The wooden framing was designed to hold the massive weight of the roof......a lead roof, which weighs 210 tonnes

Well they could probably upgrade on that material (lead) for anti-corrosion characteristics!
They also said they can't get timber that big (length, width) in France anymore, good opportunity for some BC lumber company, and or province, to offer a portion of supply.

Lead is one of the oldest roofing materials around. They still make it actually. Its more dangerous to installers then people that use the structure.

How is there nothing in the news about McDavid's rehab? Edmonton media really do take the middle 3rd of the year off huh?

How is there nothing in the news about McDavid's rehab? Edmonton media really do take the middle 3rd of the year off huh?

What exactly are you wanting to hear?

Progress report? McDavid is:
- Out of the brace?
- Skating?
- Walking?
- Getting another opinion?
- meeting with a physiotherapist?
- getting acupuncture?

I mean, he's just the franchise.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

So greedy. Just be happy with the Sept 15th announcement that McDavid will likely not participate in training camp or pre-season but is hopeful for the opening game of the season.

That's probably it. Do a google search. There are no articles. It's like the Oilers told their media cronies not to write about it until the luxury boxes are renewed.

To be fair, what are the chances the Oilers have even checked in? It's practically summer vacation, and they can't be bothered with someone who's soft enough to be "injured". Dude is probably just faking it for sympathy and so he didn't have to play out the string on what was left of the season anyhow. Suck it up!!!

That is one area I hope that Ken Holland fixes. He seems, and everyone says, that he is very engaged and genuinely cares about people. So here is hoping there is no more Souray situations.

Personally I am OK if the Oilers are more focused on finding a GM, finding a coach, figuring out who is in the front office right now vs giving me an update on if McDavid still has a brace on when we are more than 4 months away from the start of camp.

I don't think an update will take way from Holland's duties. It's been reported that he spoke with Connor already. I'm sure after pleasantry's were shared the first question out of Holland's mouth was "How's the leg doing? Can't wait to have you lead us back to the playoffs!". I'm also sure that was asked by Holland prior to taking the job.

Send Principe on a McDavid road trip like they did last year. Inquiring minds would like to know.

I never doubted you there. I saw a poll on Twitter where 50% of respondents had given up their season tickets. I'm sure controlling the narrative has nothing to do with the lack of news. We just got 48 hours of "Oilers might sign a random Swedish 4th line winger" though. So people probably aren't interested in McDavid's status...

With the other thread yesterday, and so many people in Edmonton in a hurry to let management off the hook whenever possible, I do wonder - for what price would you follow Stauffer down the garden path and become a paid jock sniffer?

I bet there are tonnes of people in Edmonton who'd do it for pathetically little. You see so many of them on twitter all the time - "Kevin Lowe isn't even in hockey ops any more...why can't you people just let it go?" "You think you know more than a bunch of former GMs???"

For what it's worth, if I ran the team, I'd give extremely limited reports on anything to the media, so updates on an injury that we already said would be a while? It's not a priority. If I am updating, I would simply say "He's working to get better. Haven't heard anything negative on that front so we look forward to seeing him back in the Fall." And that's it. Anything more and people are going to spend too much time parsing your words to figure out what it means.

Sure. But this is the leakiest organization in sports. Exactly 0% of the population hasn't heard about Dave Tippett.

Like Crusader Pi my opinions are absolutely for sale. Make me an offer OEG.
