Must win!?
Huge implications on this game for the Avalanche. They lose, and the door is open for the Coyotes to catch them in points.
Nothing at all to play for for the Oilers, other than hitting a few more personal milestones. It sure would be nice to have Leon hit 50. He'd have to have a couple ridiculous games now to hope to catch Ovechkin...it's probably out of reach.

I think the AJ gives automatic suspensions for fighting in some circumstances that I don't know. Some gloves were dropped, but they were certainly dropped accidentally.

Who has a better chance of taking out the Flames, Arizona or Colorado?
If it's Colorado, lay down, if it's Arizona this is a MUST WIN!

Going to be a tough one to win with Colorado really motivated to hang onto a playoff spot and the Oilers looking rag tag and defeated. Who knows though. They lose the ones they should win so why not the other way around for a change? Would love to see a big game points wise for our two heros ( 3 if you count the Nuge )

Only motivated players on the Oilers will be Leon to get to 50, McDavid to help him get there.
After last nights interview we could be watching the last 3 games of Captain Connor in Edmonton

Safeway should offer someone $1 million if Toby scores a single goal this season. They'd have nothing to lose, no way he does score.

I agree. I think there is more of a chance that Leon scores 5 goals because now that the playoffs are over, it will be feed the puck to Leon for the next 3 games vs Rieder scoring. The guy refuses to go to the goal. Unless you are Shea Weber and can put pucks through guys, you aren't scoring from distance with the muffins he fires at the goal.

This where its come, where hijinks between whistles is a 'rough game'. Don't get me wrong, it entertains me too in the context of this era, but the bar is set pretty low.

I don't see this happening.
Don't get me wrong, he's 100% requesting a trade. I just think it will be during the 2021 offseason. Next year there will be rumours and grumblings that he is unhappy, and summer 2021 he will officially hold out.
Then again the Kevin Lowe Oilers have never failed to disappoint so maybe he does bounce this season..

He also skates with his chin practically on the ice which doesn't look like a good body stance to take a shot from but...guess it worked for him him in the past. Would like to see him score just to get the monkey off his back.

That interview better be like smelling salts under Nicholson's nose to fully wake him up and make the right decisions this time. I could definitely see Conner asking for a trade if things haven't improved drastically by next season but I think it was just a shot over the bow.

Even IF McDavid did request a trade at some point there is no way I would comply. He's under contract for the next 7 seasons with zero leverage. Sure he could try and sit out but he's too much of a competitor, even if he did I still wouldn't trade him. Look what Ottawa got back for trading the best dman in the game...a whole lotta nothing. I've never subscribed to the belief that the instant a player requests a trade you must oblige or they will become some kind of locker room cancer that will destroy the team.

Totally agree.
This is the Oilers though and I haven't seen any evidence that they learn from mistakes.
Dont forget, we once had the best defenceman in the league under contract too. Then he requested a trade and we gifted the Ducks a Cup.
With the "culture" being what it is I don't see 97 here after 2021. Hope I'm wrong.

Too true, his skating is awful, stiff legged, and just occurred to me last game he seems to avoid doing cross-overs, he glides through his turns.
Enjoy the Bundesliga Toby!
