This feels familiar. I'm glad the Oilers made full use of the decade+ swan dive into the tank by stocking picks, building depth, and skillfully managing assets to rise to the lofty heights of a team the could stay semi-competitive until almost the end of the season.

There is still home 1 point away from being mathematically eliminated to make it to the big dance!
Well, you got to admin they weren't completely out of it all season, they amazingly teetered between redeamtion and nose-dive since January so that was entertaining but I think the off ice issues were the most interesting thing about the team.
There were plenty of teams the Oilers had to beat but their give a crap-o-meter was at a low, and that's just not acceptable. They got an aging coach who can take maybe 2 minutes of ice time before having to bark out coaching instructions from the bench.. it was just like Pat Quinn but with a slightly younger coach.
Now ride out the last week and then 6 months of no Oilers hockey. Will I renew next season? Your guess is as good as mine.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

The fact that the Oil weren’t mathematically eliminated long before now speaks far more to just how weak the Western Conference is. This of course makes the failure of the Oil just that much harder to swallow.

I'm looking forward to this game. I'm going to watch the whole thing and really love it.
Gotcha! April fools!
2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.
2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!

I'm over cheering for lottery balls. I'd rather see Vegas fans nervous about their 91 point, 15th overall, yet somehow clinched, team going into the playoffs.

There seems to be a LOT of tickets available on the secondary market for the Sharks game, but still a lot of optimistic folks thinking they're going to get a decent dollar for them...
I've found prices as low as US$31 for the Sharks games so far.
It'll be interesting to see how the week plays out for those. I may take my daughters if the price drops out the bottom...

I'm not sure if I will ever stop cheering for lottery balls. It's our playoffs.

Besides, I'm getting to the point where I just want to see the world burn. The Oilers getting Jack Hughes from the #7 or #8 slot would be incredible - especially since the only reason we'd be eligible would be the rule changes they put in place because we kept sucking so much and winning all the lotteries.
People around the league would be apoplectic about the Oilers getting a 5th first overall and that would be hilarious to watch.
It might even spur more calls in Toronto newspapers to have the Oilers sack everyone under Katz...(although of course, none here in Edmonton...they all believe in Lowe and Co.)

That's because they're not involved in hockey decisions. Stick to the narrative, Adam.
Oilers Goal Differential
17/18: 234 GF / 263 GA (-29)
18/19: 232 GF / 274 GA (-42)
19/20 (82 game pace): 257 GF / 254 GA (+3) in 64 games
2021 (82 game pace):269 GF / 235 GA (+34) after 38 games

Sorry, I briefly forgot.
As a side note, it doesn't suggest strong journalistic instincts when none of these guys ever ask Lowe how come a guy who isn't involved in hockey ops at all is always sitting at the draft table...

The internet is journalism now. Media is bought and paid for public relations. Literally, in the case of political media; the sports media bartered and won access. The only cost was integrity.

Doesn't look like winning these last games is going to be that important to Vegas, I imagine they're going easy on their best players now so Oilers have a chance to win it. Would be nice to see the big two get some points out of it. Winning is pretty meaningless at this point.
