Oilers had a banner night, but the game itself was just discouraging. Early lead and then 2 periods of sleepwalking. Some urgency should be demanded at this point of the season.

Down 2 dmen. Not giving them a pass but we’ve seen this team down Klefbom for big stretches before and it’s not good.

5 points out of playoffs after tonight, with a game in hand on last wild card Minnesota.

Unfortunately Minnesota plays Dallas next, so one of the two teams we are chasing will get 2 points.

Well if they couldn't have mustered a win in this one, not deserving of much.

Oilers had some good chances in this one including a crossbar late for Nuge, but nada. 2nd period and good part of the 3rd were pretty bad. Not sure how that tying goal got past Koskinen.

I thought Drai was having one of those games where he labored in the 2nd and 3rd, and struggled in giving away pucks. Have not seen that in weeks....but damned if he wasn't in on everything including scoring the winner.confused2 He remains on fire.

Within 5, but going to be awfully tough if Klef is out, it's not going to be a good tradeoff given the calibre of the guy coming in.

Hard to say how it's going to turn out, probably need 20 points coming down the stretch, but better than being totally disinterested at this point. It's still PVR all the way, pretty much since the allstar break.

- Klefbom deserved a star out of sheer empathy.

- Didn't realize Lucic wasn't playing until like halfway through the game. Did not miss him.

- Really want Draisaitl to get to 50. Really want him to win the Rocket Richard. He just may... he is playing incredible hockey right now. Hoping McDavid can continue to rack up the goals and assists too, even if Kucherov is running away with the Art Ross.

- Nurse had some awful luck tonight. He is becoming a difference maker on offense.

- Sekera is looking better than last year, which is incredibly encouraging. The offense isn't there the way it was (although he also isn't getting the same looks), but he has been relatively solid.

- Missed the hit on Benning, but thought it was admirable of Brodziak jumping in immediately. Not really his wheelhouse, but he sure didn't hesitate.

- I really hope the Oilers don't believe Kassian is the long-term solution on RW on the first line.

- I really hope the Oilers don't believe Cave is the long-term solution as the 3C.

- Toby Rieder is never scoring a goal as an Edmonton Oiler.

- Josh Currie is continuing to make a case for that 4RW spot for next season.

Well, my 5-year old is now a lifetime 4-0-0 in games she's attended. 2-0-0 for the Oil Kings too. She pretty much just expects the home team to win when we go to games now. This is how they hook you in...

Not an overly exciting game for much of it. An awful lot of ping pong back and forth over the neutral zone without sustained pressure, and not a lot of intensity for long stretches. But the Oilers win, and now McDavid is tied for 2nd in points and Draisaitl is 4th. Both guys likely to clear 100 points now, becoming the first team since the 1990 Penguins to have two 100-point players and not make the playoffs...

The Penguins the next year won the Cup though, so maybe this is a good sign?

- Sekera has been a massive surprise to me. He's looked pretty darn good. 11 games, only 1 assist but +4 overall. If he could come close to being a top 4 guy again, that's a massive addition to either the Oilers OR making him maybe movable as his contract opens up to 15 team list. Such a smart guy.

- I think Cave is slotted too high as a 3rd line center but they are playing him there out of necessity thanks to the Strome trade. The guy has size, skates well, seems to get into good positions for scoring chances, over 50% on faceoffs. I'd have no problem if he was the Oilers 4th line center. At 675K he's priced right. The Oilers need cheap, bottom 6 guys that can play.

- Ideally Kassian is lower in your lines but at the same time, he's big, skates well, has some skill, can make some plays, is physical and tough enough to create space and look out for McDavid when the odd time calls for it. I don't know if he is the long term fit but if you have a skilled winger on the left side, I sure don't hate him being there. He's exactly what Lucic was supposed to be for McDavid.

- I didn't like the first goal that Koskinen gave up but other than that, he was really good again. .933 says he had a good night and he did have a good night. I am hoping he can get those odd bad goals out of him but the guy seems to be able to make big saves when needed and if he happens to give up a suspect goal once in a while but in the end, only ends up giving up 2, that's more than good enough most nights.

Any news of Klefbom's package?

Hitch, during his availability, said Klefbom (along with JJ) are feeling better today than yesterday and will be re-evaluated tomorrow morning. Both have a chance to play tomorrow.

The Swedish specialists have arrived to ensure Klef's nuts are in good working order

Unfortunately, I foresee him being out longer due to excessive swelling.

That picture is racist. Did we not learn anything from the incident in Toronto yesterday?

Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.
2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!
