Must win.

Are we worried about the Flames actually being a good team? Until recently I just thought they were a decent team, in a bad division, that was performing slightly above their ability. Buuuuut now we're more than halfway through January and their first in the west. It's concerning.

Peters seems to have them playing very well and they’ve been getting contributions from each line. They have great depth. Something we greatly lack. Oh and they also have the greatest player in the world I hear... think he wears 13? Their D is good, as always it seems. Though I haven’t watched them, one of my good buddies is a Flames fan and says their goaltending is what will cost them come playoff time despite their play apparently their the weak point. I dunno. Maybe they’re actually a good time now. Puke.

Oh and MUST WIN!

That was a decent little play by Manning to get Nuge some space for that shot.

I hate to say it but they might actually be a good hockey team.
- well balanced; they already have four 20 goal guys, four 50 point plus, will be 5 when Giordano gets 1 more
- good movement of the puck by the blue line. Offensive production overall is good from there.
- I think Brodie and Giordano are both better than any of the Oilers D men
- Rittich came out of no where to win and hold the starting job
- PP is top ten
- only statistical weakness is the PK which is bottom third.

I am sick just typing those out but there a pretty good squad. I dont think they are built for a run and will crumble when the games get rougher but they are playing good hockey right now.

The two most unbelievable things about that period:

1) We had a review go our way
2) There was just one person pulled out of a scrum, and it was not one of our guys.

And that was a BS call on Kassian.

When Kypreos(sp?) even says it’s not a penalty, you know it was a BS call. icon_wink

That save was crazy. Koskinen has been fire so far. Hope the team infront of him can help him out.

The fact Tkachuk wasn’t taken out of the scrum, his BS on Koski was crap. Good to see them call Giordano on jumping Drai though but that little turtle puke should have been called.

lol Drai on that Gaudreau goal. Cluelessly goes into pylon mode and picks McDavid off from being able to actually do something defensively.

Listen, when there is an open puck in the slot and everything degenerates into a mad scramble you may do one of two things: jump on the puck or knock someone from the other team onto their ass. Standing up and vapidly swinging your stick at the puck while vainly hoping you make contact is not an acceptable option.

Another playoff season where the only joy will be cheering for certain teams to lose. Feeling pretty confident though that the ends results will satisfy.

Plays like that will enable our astute GM to now get a 3rd rounder for him. And of course the 6/7 Dman.

Pete’s leg is bouncing right now up there.

Yeah, I feel like he is finally making progress. Hitch is giving him simple goals to hit, lowering expectation on the offense for now. He's trying to push the kid to give a consistent effort, and keeps giving him chances to prove he can. He has had plenty of hiccups still, but Hitch seems to be giving him the push to get back on the horse. Before, any hiccup could lead to very long periods of just being banished.

Need to be patient with this kid. Finally we may be seeing some signs it can pay off. Unfortunately, in parallel we have a desperate GM, and it's damn scary.

JP used his big frame to set that one up. Let’s see more of that Jesse!

Yep, moments like that are why they shouldnt trade him. He is still a kid and I am still pretty sure he will end up being a useful top 6 winger if not top line winger.

I’ve come around on that, I do agree. It’s the 1st I’d look at dealing icon_biggrin though when a team can’t even show a pulse in a BoA, what’s the point?

Yeah, I feel like he is finally making progress. Hitch is giving him simple goals to hit, lowering expectation on the offense for now. He's trying to push the kid to give a consistent effort, and keeps giving him chances to prove he can. He has had plenty of hiccups still, but Hitch seems to be giving him the push to get back on the horse. Before, any hiccup could lead to very long periods of just being banished.

Need to be patient with this kid. Finally we may be seeing some signs it can pay off. Unfortunately, in parallel we have a desperate GM, and it's damn scary.

Oh how I don’t miss Todd.

He had a great shift in the first too when he had some sustained pressure in their zone - that shift should be enough to tell the clowns that run this team to hang on to this kid.

No Cups

How can every team rebuild within a year or 2 and we are stuck in perpetual rebuild? Do these guys just not care in Edmonton from top to bottom? Will Batman ever actually give enough of a crap to fire them all and bring in the best available? The players have a salary cap, but you can spend as much as you want on leadership. It goes a long way.

There will be a revolving door at GM, nothing above him will be touched.
