Time to put all energy into the Art Ross :)

Said it at the start of the year and will say it again. This is not a playoff team.

We didn’t pressure enough.
We didn’t move our feet enough.
We didn’t score enough.
We couldn’t get a call to save our lives.
But damn. I know you create your own luck, but why is it every bad bounce ends up in our net?

Losing these must-wins is going to eventually be a problem...

A pretty out of town scoreboard tonight, a very winnable game, and we get pretty much the same effort as last game, except this time we don’t get a last second miracle. Disappointing.

Exactly! happens every time, teams we are right behind lose and we can't seal the deal and make some headway in the standings.

The only saving grace tonight is that the Avalanche and the Wild both lost too.
There's a possibility this season could see one of the lowest playoff benchmarks since the invention of the Bettman point. It's literally all that's keeping us in the race.

I thought it was a pretty damn good night on the out of town scoreboard.

The first few shift promised more than what came afterwards. We can't blame bad bounces on anything, but crimes I can't recall a run like we've had of late, it it's not goals going into our net, it's hops over sticks.
Give credit to Leon tonight, he did a remarkable Lucic impression, whilst Lucic himself looked better than I've seen him for quite a while, he looked almost a hockey player.
Take me home, country road

Zing!
In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.

The good news is, the OBC all got loaded tonight (probably didn't even watch this game) and all their jobs remain safe. Whew!

I wonder what the yearly expense is for booze for the OBC and the Red Wine Summits...
Likely astronomical.

No worries there! Gretzky's got his own winery!!!
He supplies the wine, Lowe supplies the Bobby Nicks burgers and they're off to the races!

In case anyone is wondering, the Big 3 have been in on every goal since I calculated their contributions. In the last 6 games, the Oilers have 14 goals - none without either McDavid, Draisaitl or Nugent-Hopkins contributing.
On the season, they're up to 81% of the goals. Under Hitchcock? 60/67 goals, for 90%. It's getting to be pretty incredible numbers. I don't think that practice where Hitch let the three of them leave early seems to have had much impact...

Thing is, they may just not be capable. That group might be playing as well as they can. The GM has absolutely stripped this club of offense outside of those three.
Not really a surprise tonight. This is the team we have.

What about the team AZ has? Devoid of depth tonight from what I saw. Nothing earth shattering there on the back end or in net, not up front. The nobodies who wanted the game got it done.

Hitch's postgame said as much. When the coach is calling out the weakness of everyone not listed above it's a pretty strong indictment of the organization, the culture and the future.

PVR'd about the 15th consecutive game, I find I can't sit through this crap lately. Subpar effort. Not a team that's hungry.
Can't blame this one on officiating, Oilers dodged a couple early, I thought
Gross game for the Oilers. Couldn't handle a forecheck, zone exits terrible, zone entries terrible. Just a disjointed effort against a team of nobodies that flat out outworked the Oilers. AZ dominated, got out of their zone with ease.
Did not like those first 2 goals against, 2nd was going in past Talbot's glove regardless of buddy's head, Russell gets the assist on the turnover. 3rd just bounced to a dangerous spot and nobody knew where it was but buddy. The usual suspects didn't bail the team out, only producing 2 tonight, and Talbot didnt either.
Oilers aren't going to catch teams that want it more and are going to get passed by teams that want it more. Everyone talks about depth killing the Oilers, but we see time and time again well coached teams of mostly lesser players playing the way they need to to win...tonight was an example.
Something has to give. Sacrifice a damn chicken already.

Yup. Really bad again.
It's like they can't even pretend to string two wins a row together.
If the other team wants it so bad they are willing to use their face to deflect the puck into the net what are you going to do?
Pretty meh altogether.

Lost because one goal was offside, one goal went off an opponents face, and one goal was kicked in. The stole a game on Thurs and got one stolen from them tonight.
