Good start! This is how they need to play if they want to make a push.

Oilers D couldn't play that because the puck was skipping badly. How is the ice so bad in a new arena?

Kevin Lowe and the OBC generate so much hot air it's impossible for the humidity to be lowered in the building.

I know a lot of people laugh at and mock the crowd yelling “shooooooot”, but you know, they’ve got a point. Seems we have so many PPs with 0 shots. That 5-3 the other day, they spent the whole minute just passing it around. I’m not going to complain too much as we are at least middle of the pack, but it just feels like we try for pretty goals all the time. Almost averse to garbage goals.

Truth. Garbage goals are needed... look at these two Garland goals tonight. One off his temple, the other off his skate. ‘Zona ip 3-2.

They have no point. No point. Of all the stupid things I hear at a game, “shoooooooooot” is the absolute stupidest. It turns out scoring in the nhl is really hard. Like, you wouldn’t believe how good players are on the opposing team. Some of them are among the best in the world. Because of this, the odds of beating an nhl goaltender on an open clapper from the blueline are almost zero. You also can’t shoot through people and nhl defenders are shockingly good at getting in the way. The other team also puts a lot of effort into retrieving loose pucks on the pk and shooting it down the ice so spraying and praying often isn’t the best strategy.

No, it’s better to trust our players to move the puck around, even if it’s for 32 whole seconds, so they can get the goalie moving and the defenders moving around enough to create an advantageous shot opportunity, where it’s still hard to score, but not as stupidily unlikely as getting high from sniffing a mollusk fart.

Even when, like the other night, the opponent is just clogging the passing lane because they know thats your only move. No second option to shoot from the point and tap in a rebound? No third option to get it to either other guy? Just stubbornly focus on trying to set up that guy at the left face-off dot for the one-timer?

That’s an issue of piss poor preparation, coaching, or play. Either way, hammering it off someone’s shinpads isn’t going to accomplish anything useful.

There’s certainly room for putting a smart shot on net and fighting for a dirty rebound goal, but that has to be accompanied by a set piece that involves crashing the net.

Someone has to tell them. When you have a 5 on 3 like last game and 0 shots there is obviously coaching needed. We might as well do it if no one else will.

I would never personally yell SHOOOOTTTTT, but I’m sorry they have been guilty of trying to be too pretty for far too long.

Another reason a lot of their shots are blocked? Next to no movement. Bunch of pylons.

Jesus Sportsnet, just slow down the one replay that shows him kicking it into the net. Don't give me 19 replays from an angle that doesn't show it.

I know a dude got hit in the head with a puck, and that really sucks for him, but it’s really funny.

Bouncing 1 game over .500 and back to .500 over and over ain't gonna be good enough. Should be 5-6 games over .500 at least right now.
