Yeah, I'm sure they are assuming what any pessimistic fan would. Minny will go on a 10 game win streak and the DUcks will get healthy, and you'll still need 95 points to make the show, even though now it looks like you only need 90.

Absolutely agree. I didn’t read/hear anything afterwords from Hitch as to his reasoning for it. I mean... if they were all battling a wound or something, okay, makes sense. Fishy that’s it’s those three, but also not as they’re generally the only 3 going. But ya. Was such an odd move. The type of move that could have the power to rip a room apart.

I think it’s overblown.
Hitch was telling the rest of the team they were passengers. Which they were through that period.
It may have made the top 3 feel a bit awkward, but no harm. IMO.

Normally Drai is on the half board where McDavid was, no? He’s got such a lethal shot from there. Kinda surprised they didn’t set Chiasson and Draisatl on opposite boards and try to work whichever one they could get

Probably. But, it's more fun to try to rationalize the suck any way possible :)
Maybe the more likely reasons is that we have been playing those guys, especially McDavid and Drai into the ground with ice time. Also, just general deflationary influence of the season being close to over in Jan, just like it was last year.
