Positive post of the day :
The Oilers are only 3 points back of Anaheim for the last Wild Card spot with a game in hand.
Smile, everyone! Enjoy the game tonight. Hug your loved ones.

Must win game. Based on what Hitch says, the team seems to have to get their ass kicked to respond. They did in San Jose. Maybe they will come out and play well. Hopefully they get some decent goaltending but honestly, who knows.

Tonight starts a 7-game stretch before the ASG that sees us play 2 teams currently in a playoff position. After which, rumour has it Klefbom (Klefa to schoop[I think?]) will be ready to return. In other words, huge stretch before a huge addition for the even bigger push.
Oilers will take this one 4-2... McDavid, RNH, Chiasson and Kassian with the goals.

Stauffer said on that Oilers Now the other day that he can see Klefbom back in the lineup on the 19th against Calgary. He usually has inside info but I hope he's not rushing back. I think if the Oilers struggle in the next few games he's coming back early.
The way you put it about the 7 game stretch, it's safe to say we will know the Oilers fate by the ASG.

I sure hope they aren’t rushing him back. All indications were the end of January originally. Maybe his rehab is progressing extremely well, but then again Klefbom?
It’s a huge 7 game stretch, 6 at home with 1 roadie in Vancouver before coming home for the Saturday night BoA. Obviously not the ‘make or break’ for playoffs but as you said, well have a good idea after this stretch prior to the ASG.

Its just a finger, not like a knee or shoulder. Coming back early or not IMHO is low risk.

I sure hope Talbot can play well tonight. This whole play one good game then one below average game for both guys has to stop for them to have a chance. The Oilers rosters most definitely has holes in it but no team is winning a lot with the goaltending the Oilers have been getting recently.

Pretty sure Hitchcock will have Talbot on a pretty short leash tonight and yank him early if he looks shaky. Hopefully they can string together a few wins in the home stand and make a move in the standings. You never know but the embarrassment of that Sharks game should motivate them to play hard at the very least.

Stoked to see our 2.5M 8th defenseman sitting in the PB, again. Smh. What a great pickup.

While it's not a good look to have Manning in the pressbox, I honestly don't care who sits or who plays. Just win the game.

woah there. 2.25M. The 2.5M price point is reserved for guys like Ryan Ellis. What do you expect for 0.25M less?

Okay. I admit it. I've been watching the Oil since the WHA. Even have the little wood hockey stick and pennant from a Roadrunners game.
Getting older and not much wiser.
There have been many times when I tell myself to just get on with other things ( after 10 -12 years of disappointment in current management) in life and forget about hockey but I can't.
It's in my blood. Played hockey from age 5 years old until 14 when playing music , other interests and girls trumped a fun but short lived hockey pursuit.
I still kept a clear focus on what was going on with NHL hockey no matter how derailed or busy my life became over the years.
It's always been a great cathartic release. An entertaining distraction, with a passion for the players and the team.
There are so many great memories as a young whipper snapper watching hockey ( Habs ( hated) , Leafs and Bruins) with my Dad ( Mom too) and many uncles and aunts, swearing at the refs and debating all things hockey.
Saturday night after Bugs bunny was a magical time. HNIC! ( Bob Cole was much better back then :-))
So many great memories of Oilers and Flames playoff battles.
Where this team is going now is all up for debate and discussion. I guess for now I'll keep watching and hoping for winning ways to find the great Oiler team again.
Maybe it's just all part of being a Canadian ( Edmonton) hockey fan?
The schedule looks promising for the next several games and we should get a glimpse of the teams future. Playoffs or no?
If nothing else McDavid is still entertaining as hell on most nights.
Go Oilers!

I think many of us here have a similar overall story/history with this team.
The quoted part I left in is truly the only reason I still tune into actually watch the games.

I am doing it again. I didn't get the score or them winning right but I said Lucic would score 2 goals against the Sharks and he got 1. Every goal he scores from now on raising that trade value by 1%. It was at zero on Tuesday, it's at 1% now. Let's go for 2%!!!
Lucic beats in 2 goals tonight!
