Yikes, I am watching the Sharks feed and the first 5 mins of the game has been them talking about the Oilers offence being top heavy.
At first I was annoyed and considered switching to the Sharks feed, then I realized they were right. It wasnt just them making fun, they laid out a half dozen stats or so and it was sickening.

Why does Sportsnet have such a problem showing us proper replays? Enough of the iso shots of the shooter, and show us a replay that we can use to see if the puck is over the line.

Agreed, I think it was you and I talking this last game.
I had noticed it before and now after our convo I am really seeing what you are saying about the ISO cam.
I know the lack of depth will hurt as time passes but in the meantime I will enjoy the production of McD and Drai.
And as I type this the sharks tie it and McDavid goes right back on the ice. Play him until his legs fall off, it really is the only hope.

Allow a 3 on 1 goal against right after scoring. That's so OIlers.

The SportsNet West feed had such technical issues, both Centre Ice channels are showing the Sharks feed for me.

After the Oilers goal the whole team got dominated.
Starting to remind me of the TB game, the Oilers are simply being outclasssed by a better hockey team

Throw Benning or Wideman out there and the recipe for a fire drill is complete.
IMHO Benning has been passed by both Gravel and Jones now. When Russell, Sekera, or Klefbom get back I'd sit him, waive one of Wideman/Garrison
Larsson Klefbom
Russell Nurse
Gravel Jones

It seems that when his game is sucking (like now), no hustle, no hits, no fore check, and you start to think he'll get replaced, he'll go have a couple of games where he's effective, and hits the reset button. He's not a great skater, needs to go 100% to be noticed (positively).

The NHL gave the goal to McDavid now. There's no way he gets that goal unless the goal was scored after everybody hands were up, the spotlight was on, and the horn already deafened everybody.

Seems to be a common theme with a few Oilers.
Needs to go 100% is my thought. In which I mean see ya Drake.

This is BAD. It’s over already, everyone is so hesitant to do anything. Sitting back when you’re down a goal, now down 2. Is this some sort of Hitchcock rope a dope?

You can definitely argue that a total lack of D depth is burying the team right now. And that 3 years was not enough to fully remedy that if you are only looking at Chia. BUT, there are also lots of guys in management that have been here far beyond the last 3 years. And they all were here and in the room agreeing to moves that tossed away loads of assets to barely move the needle for D depth.

Hopefully the Van game was just an ‘off’ game for Koski. Not all fault on Talbs today, clearly, but this team needs Koskinen of November/early Dec to have any sniff of battling for a playoff spot.

Bouchard is the only one of those guys that looks likely to be a top 4 D though. I would not be at all surprised if Bear and Jones top out as 6/7 guys (on a good team). Lagesson is a very big longshot right now.
Forward prospect pool is full of bottom 6 at best guys, except maybe Yams, but Yams isn't doing much at even strength in the A yet. He might be 2 years away still.
The clown show is very much set to keep going on.

Oh I completely agree in this. Just being a turd and reiterating a past Stauffer tweet.
I do think Jones may be a 4/5 guy. Bear I would peg at 6/7 with some pp upside due to his shot. Lags definitely a wild card but likely no higher than 6/7.
Aside from Yams and the flashes we’ve seen from JP, Hebig seems like the next good young scorer but even he likely won’t be any higher than a 3rd liner.
We’re doomed. For years. Won’t be long before we’re behind Seattle at this rate.

I agree with this. The good news? Our bottom 6 overall is pretty terrible so maybe some of those A guys with fix that problem for PC
If Bouchard can push a few guys down the lineup and the others you mention push a few more off the team the Oilers will be close to a respectable D core.
Watching this game just strengthens my resolve on the statement "Depth shallower than a puddle"
Half of this team barely belongs in the NHL. a quarter are playing a role above their skill and the other 25% is in the right spot.

Tough to celebrate a 1st goal in a 6-1 game. I felt bad for him but admired the restraint.
