Seriously, get Drai and Nurse off that first PP unit already. Drai has his head up his ass and Nurse just isn't being effective at the point.

Agreed, specifically on Nurse, he doesn't seem to be effective there. The question I have is who do they use?

Garrison and Benning have been on the second unit since the injuries and they are awful.

Like I said earlier, give Jones a shot at the point.

I missed that suggestion, sorry.

I like it though. I'll admit when I was running through options in my head I forgot about Jones. Can't hurt at this point to give it a shot.

He's already looked better in his short time here as an offensive D-man than Benning or Nurse likely ever will. Why not give him a shot? Oh, because the PP will get worse?

Despite the Blues having the best road PK in the league, yes the Oilers have been horrid on the man advantage.

They are going to lose this game.

The Oil aren't helping themselves by being lazy (re: Drai) or just clueless (re: Nurse). Connor also looks to be having a slow night which spells doom.

And a powerplay thanks to the failed challenge. As my daughter would say, Boooomskies.

Too bad our powerplay is so anemic

You're too nice- the PP is garbage tonight. Stinky smelly garbage. I didn't realize Klef was so important to the first unit and thus depth, and that in itself is depressing.

As much as he wants to be, Nurse just isn’t the offensive defenceman he could be. At least in when it comes to working the point on the powerplay. Klef has shown flashes and was really starting to come into his own in that right, not to mention OT with 97+29.

The powerplay is as smelly as week old diapers. And it has been for an absurd length of time.

Anybody think there isn't an anti-Edmonton bias? Maybe those ass clowns are paying back Hitch for telling the refs they are blind, by proving they are blind.

The whistle should blow when the ref lost sight of the puck, and no ref was looking at that puck and could see it.

I have. And been checked into the corner from behind. Spent a few nights in the hospital. Sorry my comment about Dunn pancaking wasn’t meant as a negative towards him instead at how terrible JJ’s action was.

Dunn doing that from behind was pretty cheap. You better damn well be expecting to be spitting teeth if you pull that crap. Good on JJ.

Agreed.

As much as I want to try, there isnt much positive to take away from this one.

Talbot made a couple good saves to keep the Oilers in it for a while.
I thought Nurse was the best D-man but that isnt saying a whole lot as the bar is pretty low right now.

Even McDavid was not good tonight. Puck rolled off his stick a couple times, fanned on an open shot in the slot.

Just an overall bad game.

Drai needs a healthy scratch or 3.

He had been awful... Should have been sitting all third period. His passing is horrible and he has given up on multiple occasions to get backcheck. Just brain farting around

While I dont think he has been great tonight or last game I dont get the recent hate for him from a couple of people.

I know he is playing with McDavid but he has had a good season so far

He's been terrible for the past few games including tonight. He either needs a rest or a good kick in the ass.

Much like my earlier comment on Nurse (that the bar was low) I agree that Drai hasnt been good but he is WAY down the list of guys who played poorly/caused them to lose.

If we are grading him VS expected I can agree he is pretty far into the negative. But on that same scale McDavid has been awful as well.

I'm critical because there's more there, much more than he brings. He does some amazing things, can make a great play, can dominate...but for every great play he kills 8 by trying low percentage stuff, or by coasting his way down the half boards, not moving his feet, and eventually being surrounded and losing the puck. It's worked it's way into his PP performance of late as well. Something wrong with the energy level, something is up there. He needs the red juice, amphetamines...something. Is he hurt?

This is at the lesser responsibility of a winger. Imagine if he were centering the 2nd line like he's supposed to as allegedly the team's 2nd best center. I don't think you can play center with a sporadic energy level.

Disappointing effort by the Oilers. Oilers looked tired and flat. No one played well. PP let them down. This loss is not Talbot's fault but at the same time, it's another game where he gave up 3 or more goals, another game where he was below .900 and the team lost again with him in goal. Just seems like it will be a year where the Oilers usually cruise along and win when Koskinen is in goal but they will sputter and struggle when Talbot is in there.

35 GP - 16G, 26A, 42 Pts.

It would be pretty rare to see a team sit a guy who is sitting top-12 in the league in points and 8th in the league in forward time on ice/game. Especially a team that would need to then replace him in the lineup with Ryan Spooner or Valentin Zykov.

Draisaitl is going to have people suggest he's not moving his feet enough for them his entire time in Edmonton. It's inevitable. Oilers fans said the same about Krushelnyski, Penner, and every big rangy forward in between - no matter their production. It's an Edmonton fan base specialty - right up with complaining that the offensive minded puck-moving defenceman isn't physical enough.

I suppose it's not only Edmonton - Sundin got the same comments for much of his career. Apparently so did Frank Mahovlich.

I do think that it's likely to catch up to the Oilers that they play their top three guys as much as they are - all three are in the top-21 in ice time, but it may just be an inevitability when the rest of your forwards can't produce anything.

I do think that Draisaitl had an off-game last night, but there wasn't many on the Oilers who I didn't think weren't good. I certainly don't think the Oilers would benefit at all from scratching a guy scoring at over a point a game...
