Beauty. Drai creates space by moving his damn feet and a nice feed to Oscar.
Koskinen still 1st star.
Otherwise a pretty pedestrian effort I thought. You play with fire in these games that go deep scoreless, at home no less.

Very happy for Koskinen.
This would have sucked if he got the L, like that game in Anaheim.

Koskinen battles man. 2nd, 3rd, 4th efforts. That's an absolute must playing for this team. We give up the extra opportunities all the time. Talbot will get it back one day too, last game for him was good.

Suck it refs. What garbage disallowing that OT goal. What are they looking for if it’s not what was clearly shown on the screen. Suck it.

Then the panel felt they had to apologize.
Good grief.

Excrement!
I always enjoy how sensitive our society pretends to be. I mean, I know a lot of people watching hockey at 10 pm must be super worried about hearing a cuss word.

Pretty boring game but thanks to Koskinen having a solid game and that game saver on Ben with under 2 seconds left, and in spite of a garbage call on what should have been a goal by McDavid, Oilers win! That 2.5 mil doesn't look too bad right now. Maybe the luck is changing!

Listening to Hitch’s post gamer;
-Spooner needs to play in the top 9 and that his position versatility can allow it but it’s on Hitch to figure where and will take a long look at it in the next 24 hours.
-Talbot played well in LA game. Both goalies have played well since he’s (Hitch) been here and thinks that goaltending will be the strength of this team.
-Likes JP (obvy) but says when the puck is stopped he seems to jump too quick and that when the puck is moving he’s great. The coaching staff will work on his patience.
-3rd D pair needs to play better.
I have to say I enjoy listening to Hitch

He sounds like he’s actually assessing the game and individual situations, with awareness and thoughts on solving the problems.

I dunno. I think I prefer the silent treatment and players getting videos of their mistakes handed to them.

I hope it continues, it was always going to happen a new coach coming in and making assessments, but after the settling in period stops so does the assessment and we get back to cliche filled press interviews. I like the fact that he's taking some responsibility already for both Spooner and PJ.

His answers are fairly technical, which makes his comments far more objective.

It feels weird. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to handle someone in the Oilers organization operating like this.

It's pretty cool, I'm learning a bit more about positional play and player analysis. Very cool.

We will see how it goes. McLellan loved to dissect individual plays, and Hitch seems a bit more high level, although I hope he’s more careful than McLellan about what he says in to the microphones. I don’t think it’s helpful to have a coach acknowledging player flaws and faults to the press. It helps other teams with pre-scouting if it’s honest, and player corrections just don’t need to be public. I’d rather a coach combatively contest even the most obvious shortcomings of his players when asked about them by media than to give us long well thought out explanations of what a guy does wrong.
As for the game, I didn’t like the teams reliance on long shots. It looked like the game plan was shoot from anywhere, which is seemed really pointless. There were so many shots from far outside the danger zone and the Dallas ‘keeper wasn’t having trouble with any of them. Hopefully that was simply because they wanted to test an unproven netminder and not a feature of the system that we are going to be treated to on any regular basis.
Nice to get the win, although I’d love to see the team stop surrendering points to conference rivals in every match.

The third pair needs to be Gravel and Russell
the second pair needs a player equal or better than Nurse
Then we would have the semblance of an NHL d-core to go with what is an acceptable but lacking depth forward group.
Koski is the starter until he loses it in my eyes. The guy is a pleasant surprise and along with Chiasson the best parts of the season so far.
Overall a REALLY boring game but I will always take a boring win over an entertaining loss

I saw no reason for Gravel to come out, but that's the life of 3rd pairing guys. Something has got to give in terms of who they're carrying on the roster, and Sekera might be back before Christmas by the looks of it.

..MOGA !
-This is a loss if Talbot's in net. Koskinen just Hoovers rebounds, and actually makes the big stop when the team is desperate for it. Team still playing dopey for long stretches in their own end, must be driving Hitch nuts. Hitch needs to run with the guy.. 2nd shut out so far ... with no help from his D corp.
-Klefbom plugged the winner, but he is frustrating to watch with the puck in his own end, no urgency to hi sgame, forechecker gaining on him, suddenly realizes it too late, and coughs up the puck, guy needs to skate hard TO the loose puck, and move his feet when he gets it.
-That puck was clearly in, you could see white ice between the puck and the line. What were they watching in the so-called "command center", if you didn't think there was an anti-Edmonton bias before, you would after that hack job, stole a goal from McDavid. Whoever was working there tonight should be out looking for work tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile at the Command Center

Klef sometimes waffles back toward indecision and not making a quick pass, he can't rag a puck out of trouble that well.
If you eyeball the edge of the goal line from the left side over to the right where the play is, that puck is over and clear of the line. The call on the ice was no goal but I don't know how they couldn't have drawn enough of a conclusion to overturn it. Thankfully it was settled a bit later.

Under Hitchcock:
The Oilers: 2-1-1 (5 pts)
Their Opponents: 2-0-2 (6 pts)
For those, including some of the players, who think as long as the team is putting up points it's a good thing. It's only good if you're not giving up more than you gain.

Talbot not stinking the joint out in LA would make our record more respectable. Lets see what our record is at the 42 game mark
This forum has turned into a pessimistic cesspool of bitching and whining about the same topics consistently.
