How many tries would Lucic need to score a goal like Chaisson did? Around 1000?

He wouldn't. Period. That was back-hand, forehand by 39, Lucic only has forehand .. and that was 10 years ago.

Yeah. I'll be generous and put the play on the other side of the net. Still probably takes him 900 tries, and the one that goes in is probably him shafting his whack at the puck and it lobs over top of the goalie and bounces off the goalies back and goes in.

Like I said in the pre game, This game will show the character of the team. Not much. PC came to this team he had no puck moving defensemen no starting goalie. Got gifted to him best player in the league. Lets the whole world know he is desperate for a RH defenceman and trades one of the best wingers in the league for a stay at home defenceman that he was hoping would be a late bloomer like Hedman. We all know the other great moves to follow. He now has no wingers, no puck moving defenceman and no starting goalie but no cap space. Has Mcdavid and is wasting him. Hopefully the coach and PC are gone by the end of the year at the latest, Doesn't seem to be any heart or pride in this team.

Fixed that for you. Waiting until the end of season is basically like writing off the year already.

The way this franchise is run I thought it was wishful thinking to hope for end of the year. Won't get rid of Todd until they are out of the playoffs and even then I don't know. Hoping I'm wrong on that. Lets just hope Peter doesn't get desperate and pull off another blockbuster as we know how those work out for him

Talbot now the back up. Seen enough, two season's he's stunk. He's sport'n a stellar 0.77 save % tonight.
I've seen enough of Spooner, Strome wasn't on the ice for a single goal, for, or against. Spooner has played 2 games and he's -4.
Benning is useless. Drop this fraud, please.

Sorry Toddy, but you've had 4 years ... What's that Todd? .. Yeah I know... don't worry Chiarelli will be right behind you.

I really don’t blame Chia for Talbot sucking.

I do blame him, for picking up a gamble of a back up.

Luckily, it paid off, but for how long?

Team is toxic right now. Talbot's sav% is worse than Dubnyk's when MacT scapegoated him for a lost season. And I bet Talbot ends up doing just fine somewhere else if we trade him for a cap dump the same way. You stick around on this team long enough, every mistake you make feels like death. Talbot and the team in front of him look completely deflated any time something goes wrong. And all our coach does it tell them they need to make less mistakes and play even more scared. Koskinen gets enough starts, he will fall down that hole with the rest of the group.

Hall for Larsson cannot be argued.

Dude, I can argue for the flat earth. Hall for Larsson is only slightly more absurd than that.

Anyone who's actually still arguing that the Oilers didn't get destroyed in that trade is drinking far too much Oilers kool-aid. That was as lopsided a deal as you'll find.

Shero ate Chiarelli's lunch there. It would have been lopsided if we'd gotten a first round pick along with Larsson. As a one-for-one? It's robbery. One of the worst trades of the last decade in the NHL.

I did see Matheson hilariously suggest that we could trade Larsson for Nylander today...can you imagine that?!?

Yes I could. He's shown he's wil\lling to trade the players he got from bad trades despite the optics, so why not trade Larsson? The Oilers do need a lot of help on the wings.

Technically wasn't it Hall for Larsson which opened up a slot on the top line for Lucic? And room to sign him? Not like that's making the argument any better. It's funny to think that the next goal Lucic ever scores may be while he's playing on the team we trade him to, while playing us for a playoff spot, and his goals wins them the game...Cause it's so Oilers!

As has been said - I don't think many dislike Larsson. He's pretty good and a good contract. But not straight up for Taylor freaking Hall. Good grief. I can't even fathom how that conversation went to end up with "OK, sure Ray, one of the best wingers on the planet for a decent stay at home Dman and nothing else. Sounds good."

I agree with the general sentiment, but I think calling Larsson a decent stay-at home D-man is selling him significantly short. His ES pts have been near the top of the team ever year (even during Klefbom's 38pt campaign, Larsson only had 3 less ES pts than Klefbom, and was T-60th in the league re: ES points by defensemen, Klefbom was T-50th), plus he plays the tough shutdown minutes to considerable success, and while on a great contract. Hall was an overpay, but Larsson is one of the 62 best D-men in the league.

I don't think I'm selling him short at all. I stand by my assertion - He's a decent stay at home Dman. Nothing disparaging about that. Nobody will argue he is a #1, and anyone would agree he is 100% more than a #4. I think most would agree he is at the very worst a #3, but realistically a #2. A middle of the pack/lower tier 2.

That's a valuable player in the NHL. No bones about it. But Taylor Hall just won the Hart trophy. Taylor Hall drives the play - he has been a driver since he came into the league. When he is on the ice, it's tilted toward the opposition end. Adam Larsson was a lackluster return for Taylor Hall - that's not a slight on Larsson. That's a monumental screw up by Chia

Yes, Hall trade was bad, but I think a pegging issue makes the trade seem worse that it actually was. Is a "decent stay at home D-man" one who is top 60-ish in ES points and is top 40-ish in GF%? Those are (lower end) top pairing ES offensive stats, which I think is better than "decent", and certainly better than a "decent stay at home D-man". Maybe it's a semantic issue, but "decent" implies "average" to me, and I think Larsson is above average in the shut-down role he is asked to play, especially considering his ES offensive numbers. Whether that constitutes a high-mid-low tier #2 depends on what role one thinks a #2 should play (e.g., offensive, 2-way, shut-down, etc.), so I can't really comment on that, but looking solely at Larsson as a shut-down guy, I think he is near the top portion of the league in that regard. Still not nearly enough to justify the Hall trade, though.
