Looch shown breaking sticks and heading off the ice in practice yesterday while a bunch of other players still out there. Nothing like working and putting in time to get out of a mega slump, I guess.

They said, as they showed the clip, that he had taken a puck off the knee in a PP drill just before that and that it had visibly stung him, he was taking out his frustration before leaving the ice.

First line goes from +2 to +1 on blown coverage that ends up in the net. 2 guys cheating high, flying the zone without possession.

2nd line scores 5v5? Wot?

How can Kassian play like Tom Wilson for the last two games? Where was he for the last 90+ games?

...good game so far by the Oilers, but why is Adam Larsson so reluctant to pass the puck to a teammate? And take shots himself rather than look for an Oiler who might have a better chance?

Nice once in a while to play a goalie that performs like our #1 :)

It's only fair

Yup. Circle of trust.

4th line continues to play well. I don't mind the changes in the pairings on D too much either. Nurse & Russell weren't doing well of late.

So after this game Koskinen will be 4-1 with a significantly (assuming the 5-2 holds) better GAA and S% than 5-7 Talbot. Goaltender controversy, anyone?

Team trusts one guy, and play like scared little children in front of the other. Think the controversy is solved for now. Talbot needs a long break and the players need a break from him.

Well, if you thought having a 2.5 million dollar back-up was bad... let's try a 4.16 million dollar back-up.

Think that just happens sometimes. Devils would have been right down in the toilet with us last year if Kincaid didn't play like a #1 for them when Schneider was being a turd for half a season.

I suppose. It's still a fun post and I still don't trust Koskinen.

I don't fully either :)

But I know how these goofs play when Talbot is starting, and I'm so sick of seeing it.

Wow the knives are being sharpened for Talbot. He’s been very average for a while though.

I’m very intrigued what Koskinen might bring if he gets more starts. No need to wear Talbot to a little nub this year maybe. Perhaps he will find his game again.

Wouldn't say knives just for Talbot. He can be a damn good goalie. But, this whole team needs a mental reset IMO. When Talbot starts, he and the whole team play like something horrible is gonna happen and they always manage to make it so.

I agree with you about Talbot. The team seems to play more confident when Koskinen is in. By my eye, they seem to believe in him more right now. Quite frankly, I don't blame them. Save percentage = .918 vs .895. A 23 point difference is a hell of a lot. 2.52 GA vs 3.09 GA. Over half a goal a game is a hell of a lot. Now Talbot has more starts so you have to take that into account a little but a ton of those games was they rode Talbot for the first month. Koskinen at times looks a little odd in his saves and his glove hand doesn't look as smooth as some but who cares how he does it, the puck stays out.

I believe the Oilers are a team that mentally can handle a team scoring a few on them provided they deem them as good goals. Domi's goal was a hell of a shot, tip of the hat. Shaw's goal was a point blank bang bang, no chance goal. Tip of the hat. The rest of the game, Koskinen made all the saves he should and they cruised, they didn't flinch. The Avs game. The first goal SUCKED. Taking out that it happened in the first minute which made it worse, it was a bad goal by Talbot. So I think the team saw that, ass puckers and their game is done because they are worried Talbot doesn't have it. If you remember 2016, the team run and gun, made mistakes, defense wasn't great but they had complete confidence in Talbot making the saves he needed. Last season, the team run and gun, made mistakes, defense wasn't that great, Talbot didn't make the saves they needed, team crater. This year team runs and runs, defense isn't great, when they feel the goalie makes all the saves he should, they roll, when they don't they lose.
