I Just saw on Twitter vis Spec that Bouchard is headed back to junior. He was decent but it's the right call. This kid is going to be good.

The Oilers don't often do a lot of things right but they did on this. Giving Bouchard some games, letting him practice with the team, be around the team, work with the coaches especially Yawney, then sending him down was the right way to handle him in my opinion. I wish given he has 3 years of junior already he could go play in the AHL but he can't.

I'm speechless.

Management doing the obvious right thing? Management finding solid depth players for cheap. Management finding a diamond in the rough goalie?

Please let this be true.

This also means Bouchard ELC pushes back a year so he’ll be safe(r) from the likely Seattle expansion draft. Did the Oilers actually do something... smart?

I think that was the main reason. He is still a legit 5/6 D-man on this team, with PP skill, not like they couldn't have used him. Upside of London is he gets to skate and handle the puck more, hopefully deep into the playoffs, experience which he can use.

2nd best ppg for D in the OHL, right behind Merkley who started the year in the OHL.

Fingers crossed he makes that team.

I'm worried. I have a feeling he's only 2 Hendricks' out of 10.

We should trade him for a 4th liner out of the AHL that has atleast a 6/10 on the Hendricks scale. It’s the only way we can get the necessary character to win.

The next right call is once Rattie is back, I would send both Yamo and Puljujarvi to the minors. Both aren't ready and that is fine. I tell Woodcroft to play the crap out of them. Each 20 mins a piece.

I would run with these lines.

Nuge - McDavid - Caggulia/Rattie
Rieder - Leon - Chiasson
Lucic - Strome - Rattie/Caggulia
Khaira - Brodziak - Kassian/Marody

I would strongly consider sending Marody down as well and call up Brad Malone. If you just need an extra forward for just in case, I would much rather have Malone sitting watching than Marody who could become something.

Gets to leave with a pretty good feeling about his future in the NHL.

Hope that the Knights make a big push this year. Middle of the pack right now in their division.

Speaking of OHL, wow, Flint Firebirds. 0-14-1 record.

They know what they have in him. They know he'll be on the team next season barring a freak injury so they can plan their defensive core around that for next season. ( trades, contracts, whatever needs to be done ) He could have stayed this season and done reasonably well. Hopefully Bear gets the call up at some point when he's ready, to inject some offence into the D group. It was the right move but having floundered for so long as an Oilers fan, it's hard to be patient about it.

I think we need to be okay with it if he isn't on the team next year too. One point in seven games and -5 while facing weak opposition isn't great - I don't think he was ready, and he may not be ready for the NHL next year either. I think the team (and fans) need to slow down expectation that players make the team and start contributing as teenagers. That should be the exception, not the rule.

I'd prefer we take it slow so that the player's confidence stays strong - let him excel at levels below the NHL first - and so that the fans don't sour on him. We've seen before that once Edmonton's "best fans in the NHL" make a decision about a young player, it can be very difficult to change their minds, and they tend to get on the player - both while he's on the ice and while he's in the community. Offensive defencemen are a favourite target for the howling mob here. Better to let him come up slower and hope that doesn't happen.

This move looks even smarter now because not burning a year now allows Bouchard to be exempt from the 2021 Expansion draft.
