3 Cups

I think we are seeing the West is the stronger conference.

Washington makes the playoffs with a -37 goal diff and unless a miracle happens, they will be lucky to win a game and look like a team that will be swept.

Islanders made the playoffs with a -17 goal diff and are down 3-0.

Tampa, people are saying the series is close but are probably getting swept. At best they might win 1.

There is no sweeps going to happen in the West I would guess. With most series easily going either way.

Wow Nashville PP is just terrible. Sometimes I forgot how crazy good Edmontons powerplay is.

Shots 30-12 Nashville. Lose 1-2 to a sub 0.900 goalie. Lol. Hope they have another good game in them.

I didn't realize until today that Casey DeSmith is a total piece of crap who beat up his girlfriend while playing in college.

I hope he gets lit up repeatedly in the post-season, helping to get quickly to the end of his NHL career. Zero time for people like that.

Jets looking pretty doomed if they can't slow down the non stop Avs attack.

Got ugly with Brendan Dillon getting his hand stepped on in a 3rd period scrum.

I would've thought Jets had a chance of say...winning in 7...had they contained Colorado after the 2nd period...that unfortunately didn't happen.

If Nashville mgt legitimately thought they had a chance this season, they probably wouldn't have been this cheap with their roster.

Once again...I seriously felt Josi deserved the Norris in 21-22 putting up 96 points with a low skill dump & chase forward group

HNIC panel "The Canucks are underdogs now because of their goalies being hurt"

Canucks proceed to make their goalies do backflips in net to have any chance to win because they can't generate any offense. Lucky DeSmith stole one.

Lol Nashville. Choke empty net and end up going to OT. Canucks get starter performance from a 3rd stringer and Soros looking like overrated junk. 3 ga in 18 shots and Soros flopping all over like Mike Smith.

Whoever we would play in round 2, would be very disappointed if we lose.

Wish they could have played Vegas. Would be neat to see 2 teams where the goalies play great no matter who they are, and also just get goals at will whenever they need one.

I have to say I am pretty surprised at the Jets and Hellebuyck and how the series is going. Because the Jets seemed to beat the Avs for fun this season and I felt with Hellebuyck, the Jets had a MASSIVE advantage in goal, I picked the Jets to win in the pools I did.

I'm also surprised at Saros. I had picked the Canucks to win this series to start the playoffs but I thought Saros would extend this series longer than it would be if he wasn't there. When Demko went down after game 1, I started to question my pick. But he hasn't been very good.

All Winnipeg can do is take it one game at a time...hold serve during Game 5...and then see where every game thereafter goes....that is if they can indeed hold serve...

Not surprised with Nashville...they intentionally went super cheap on the season not expecting to be in contention. As for Saros? Only so much you can do with a 5-10/5-11 goalie...lot different than many of the recent Finnish goaltenders who were at least 6-3/6-4+.

Trotz is still doing the right thing taking this as a slow rebuild done correctly. Last thing you want to do is to get trigger happy and try to accelerate the rebuild much like the Kings. Doughty made it clear he wanted to "win now....in LA" some seasons ago...and it's came at the expense of trading away some younger assets like Durzi/Vilardi and useful guys like Iafallo. I'm sure Anze was fine with a more meticulous rebuild done correctly but not Drew....it'll be an interesting offseason for the Kings....

So, the -37 goal differential (worst for a playoff team since a 21 team league) Capitals did basically what everyone expected and got swept.

He has his Cup and all the individual awards he needs. Now he just needs to keep himself healthy in pursuit of the all time goal scoring record.

So, the -37 goal differential (worst for a playoff team since a 21 team league) Capitals did basically what everyone expected and got swept.

Someone kindly summarized OV's series.

Early exit lets him get the juice going sooner and longer, before he needs to get it out of his system, to get that record icon_biggrin

Yeah - nobody will ever convince me he’s not on something. Didn’t his performance fall off a cliff every Olympic year only to rebound right after? And his health and shot into his late 30s? Right…

Let's do to the Kings what Florida just did to Tampa :)

6-1 finishing move.

3 Cups

Dallas did their part and won. I would like those 2 teams to have a long series and beat on eachother.

I am hoping Saros steps up his game, the Preds take advantage of the Canucks 3rd string goalie and extends the series.

I would hope Hellebuyck, a vezina finalist has it in him to play well at home and extend the series.

Same thing for whoever goes through to the second round. Presumably the Avs will be one of them. Avs vs Vegas/Dallas will be a heck of a series. I hope it goes to 7 and they beat the heck out of each other.

I'm a little surprised that Tampa rolled over as quickly as they did. Florida are good, but not that good.

I'd really love to see a Nashville win tonight with Hughes continuing to take a ton of abuse. He got hammered several times last game...ideally, if they advance he's feeling the effects of that series by the time they reach us.

^what's more surprising are his teammates not sticking up for him after the endless brutal forechecks....esp that Zucker/Sissons sandwich check which left him in visible pain on the bench afterwards.

Very upset with Vegas's performance & overall strategy against Dallas. Not really sure why Pietrangelo and Hanifin are on the same pair at even strength. Can Hanifin not handle his own pairing? Sorta reminds me of a less agile version of a younger Ryan Suter....steady at best...though very underwhelming if you need them to be dominant game changers.

ESPN commentators yesterday mentioned how Eichel is the only guy playing smart, hard, and consistently for Vegas in game 4...keep in mind this roster has seen it's better years pass them up as it's more of a "depreciating" core constructed to win now...or else. If this continues to be the case, I can see Eichel eventually asking for out...something about him reeks of the Ryan Kesler cockiness & entitlement

What happened to Matthews? He's out for this elimination game now.

Got a crazy bad case of food poisoning or something else up.

There’s gotta be an injury there.

A friend whom is a ML fan mentioned something about a twisted ankle from some play in game 3 I think he said. I just laughed and reminded him of what Drai did on one leg as another notch in the Draisaitl is better than Matthews debate.

I know Leafs fans who are upset....then again...scriptwriters likely wanted this....esp the Ontario media market which is salivating at the prospects of a game 7 via Hockey Night in Toronto.

As for the upset Leafs fans....Rielly, Tavares, Marner, Matthews, and Nylander have been the constants for past 6 seasons...with a ton of rotating support pieces coming in/out. They'd like to see two of the bloated contracts above moved along with a coaching change too.

^Going to a game 6 delays the inevitable

Boston slacked it in that game. Hope that is not what we do in game 5 just because you get 3 tries to close out.

Our situation would be much worse with longer distance travel for game 6

Colorado, Vancouver and Edmonton have their chance to close out their series next. Boston failed, now who next. This is fun.

ETA. Forgot Carolina did theirs, but I think that was sort of if a tree falls down in a forest kind of deal for many.

looks like the Jets are folding. Got their tie 3-3 in the 3rd, and brains turned off.
