I've never said he was a passenger, offensively. I know he contributes enormously offensively. That's not the problem. Honestly, I acknowledge that Draisaitl is a hell of a player (in particular when he's playing inspired hockey), however my frustration with him is probably rooted more so in seeing how high of a ceiling he has and knowing (by watching him play) that he could be so much more.
Perhaps I'm off-base with my thoughts, but I don't think the fancy stats are going to fix the numerous times a game where I see him wayyy behind the play on a backcheck, or slowly making his way to the bench for a line change, reaching when he should be moving his legs... etc.
I like Drai. I wear his jersey to games. Maybe he just teases us with warlord Drai at times and you begin to expect that's the way he can play and should play.
