It would be good to see the depth guys start contributing again. It's now been six games since the last time the team had a goal where none of 97, 29 or 93 contributed. Only one of those goals without either 29 or 97 too.
I still think that Ottawa team has a pop-gun offence. They just don't look like much of a threat at any point. Some guys who'll be solid - I like Stutzle, for instance, but he looks really young and small out there still. Chabot is a stud too - but he doesn't have a lot of help. We really have to just keep taking advantage of that. Taking the next two would be a really good way to add some separation.

One huge difference from this year to others is that we are beating the the teams that we are suppose too. It’s not always pretty, but I remember a lot ugly losses to good teams in the past 20 years.
This team is getting closer to being a contender, but it’s missing some rather large pieces of the puzzle. This is the best I’ve felt about the Oilers in 15 years and it’s not even close.

There've been some moments previously for me. That first season where everyone was hurt, I was pretty hopeful. We didn't have a good year, but it was so clearly injuries that were to blame for it...
That playoff run too...the Ducks were beatable, and we just couldn't close. I don't think the Predators were invincible in that next round either.
This year, the team does remind me a lot of the 2006 team. It needs a 'tender, and some tweaks and then it would be poised to do some serious damage in the post-season.
McDavid & Draisaitl are so explosive that they make up for a lot of flaws. They look absolutely dominant when on the ice together. I didn't mind the game from the second line tonight too. We need more from our depth - that was something that the 2006 squad did have in spades - but there's some pieces for sure.

Nuge looked alright on the second line as a center. Created offence. Won some face offs and made a few defensive gems. Puljujarvi had his chances and Ennis is such a smart player. I’d like to see a few more games there.
One thing I like about Drai/McDavid is that if you get stumped by a team you can split them up. Tipp can be more reactionary, but I do still question his ability to out coach his opponents. His systems are good, but he struggles in game. I can think of multiple times this year where he has had a perfect opportunity for a timeout, but ignores the chance.
