Oh look, another Drai botched pass leads to a Flames odd-man rush while the Oilers are on a PP. You can't make this stuff up.

I'm pointing out specific bad plays made by Drai. Basic passes back to a D-man or to an open winger aren't particularly "good" ones, you know. Drai keeps attempting passes that only Connor can make on a regular basis and fails over and over again. He also has a propensity for making blind passes which are even worse because he doesn't have Connor's awareness of the ice.
I'll wait for you to put together the highlight reel of dirty Drai passes to counter what I'm saying, though.

No one is saying there's no value in those guys. Ryan Smyth was a very valuable player, Pisani definitely was valuable. But grinders (and fighters) get all kinds of love, and often aren't looked at critically at all. Jason Smith was worshiped as if he was one of the best captains we ever had by some. He was a good player, but he was never the most important defenceman on the team in any of his seasons here.
Meanwhile, there are those who do suggest that McDavid & Draisaitl not doing enough is the reason the Oilers aren't contenders yet...

I have mentioned the same thing before as well so agree with you.
Like Adam said those guys have value but many Oiler fans base evaluation on expectations.
A 10/10 talent player can never make mistake. Every shift, every game should be a masterpiece.
A 4/10 player gets praised on the regular for non-tangibles.
this was years ago but I read (maybe even on here) that the if you take out the top 5 scorers from each teams sales numbers the Oilers lead the league in jersey sales every year.
