Their anthem dude stinks.

Hope he’s not the regular.

Fans call a penalty for the ref. This league continues to be a clown show.

I’ve never seen a bottom 6 player that never hits as little as McLeod. He either does a fly by or spins away. Needs some Zach Hyman gumption.

They don’t dare explain to Woodcroft.

Because there is no good explanation other than yours.

Bouchard wasn’t sure that Campbell had the shooter that was bloody well right in front of him 🙄, so he felt it wise to monitor that instead of the other forward.

He might have had responsibility to the net front there and the forward might have been slow covering the shooter. Someone certainly missed an assignment.

Not that i totally blame Woodcroft, but he just seems to have no answer right now for what to do. Granted the talent on defense and Campbell in net. Doesn’t really help him much, but damn…. This is ugly. Something has to be done. This team is looking like we won’t even be close to making playoffs.

...hard to argue.
But goaltending has gotten a lot of coaches fired... A SHG and a PPG to start things off sure hasn't helped. That said... another game where the other goalie looks all-world vs what we put out there.
Being out of the playoffs is a real possibility... I don't have any answers either. icon_neutral

One obvious point... this team really misses Kane. Apparently he is the whole "team" in "team toughness".

There has been a lot of talk lately about how many of Bouchard shots are blocked this season.

That useless shot he just took on the PP was basically a turn over.

We lost, but look closer at the game.
49 shots and a Sorokin shutout. That's a lot of rubber to face and a couple of outstanding saves.
Campbell was at least over 90%, that shorthanded goal was beautiful, and if they'd missed scoring, we were headed back up ice with a power play odd man rush. On their PP goal, Bouchard had his man, but happened to deflect the puck into his own net.
I thought we played a much more sound defensive game than we have for most of the season. we only took 2 penalties

Sometimes you play a good game and just lose.

But this is the very problem the Oilers need to overcome. You say they played a great game, but they still gave up three questionable goal. The only path to an Oilers victory last night was them simply outscoring their problems. As we've seen over the last ~15 years, this strategy is perilous at best.

no, the first was a good goal. the second was a lucky bounce off our own D-man and the 3rd could have been stopped, but it was the 3rd goal in a 3-0 loss, so it also matters less.
We can and have beaten teams like this before. This season. I wish we were higher up the ladder, and I really wish we'd done something about Kane's cap hit on LTIR already, but here we sit. We'll be fine, we'll be better with some changes, but they're making changes. Coaching alteration is what made us play a sound defensive game. Have faith brothers!

I will say the 49 shots on goal was impressive, but half of them really weren’t threatening. We are really missing Kane out there right now. It sucks because we have two of the best in the game…. But two guys can’t get it done all the time and with this bottom 6….. ya… you need all the help you can from the top two lines

any time the puck goes towards the goalie is a chance to score. Maybe someone tips it. Maybe he flubs a rebound or misplays it with his stick. Maybe there's a crash of guys chasing into it.
40+ shot shutouts are rare.
