The Oilers need to be so much better with tape to tape passing. Starting this game just throwing pucks all over the place.

Skating well to start the game... but they need to sharpen up.

As an aside, Trevor Lewis has a pretty punchable face. Him, Stone and Tkachuk... all the punches.

Bouch with the big error, but no coverage. Zero.

McDavid with the timely penalty. Not sure what's happened to him in the last couple of games, but he's looking off so far again tonight.

To be clear, playing "off" for McDavid is like a normal player just having a decent game...

Attention to detail boys. Attention to detail.

The whole team looks off as the grand shot tally of two shows so far. Hopefully they turn on the jets soon.

It will be a minor victory if they come out of this first period down just by one goal. The Flames are coming out hard with desperation.

Pretty fortunate to only be down 1. So I guess that’s something of a win?

I don't get this first period by the Oilers. Should have been a big forecheck early when Calgary was tentative. There was no Calgary onslaught. Then you hand Calgary a goal due to lackadaisical puck control by Bouchard and typical Oiler blown coverage. Fricken brutal start and 1st period in my books.

Exactly. What they wanted to do was pressure and score first and make Calgary shat and fold. Opposite happened. Calagary scored only because of no GAF in that sequence.

Tough goal on the deflection- looks like the hockey luck is also going the Flames' way so far too.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Saddledome ice was deliberately made crappy just to slow him down. Then again, they just suck in general.
