Yeeesh.
What's the point in trading for an extra third if you're going to use it on someone who's not even ranked in most standings?
The Oilers seem to have a love affair with German players recently, although it's all short-lived if they don't immediately turn in to Leon Draisaitl.
Apparently one of the guys we got in the 6th round was ranked in the second, so maybe that makes up for throwing away this pick.

I watched some highlights from the U-20's Germany v. Russia, kid was solid vs elite speed and talent, the Germans were hanging by a thread trying to survive, I think they had about 6 or 8 guys get quarantined for covid during the first few days of the tournament, including Mozzaburger..
Last season he played 6 games in Germany, and 5 in the WJHC's.. for a total of 11.. no wonder he's not on anyone's lists..
I think the spy the Oilers had was Jay Woodcrofts brother, Todd Woodcroft.. is the coach for NCAA Vermont, the team that recruited Mozza to the school, and where he is now practicing, probably gave Jay the heads up.. plus Leon has his German contacts to confirm..

I also read somewhere (can't find it now), that Mozzaburger was practicing last year with a German pro team Kölner Haie, didn't play any games because of NCAA eligibility, the same team as Draisatl's old man used to coach 2years ago, and had first hand intel the past year from there, in addition to Woodcrofts HC brother in Vermont.
