1 Cup

Apparently you CAN win with only goaltending and special team superiority. A look at the standings says so.

Stating the obvious... that was a BIG win. Because of past history I (along with many bruised fans) have been waiting for "the losing streak" that, so far, has not jumped up and said "No Playoffs for YOU". That streak could have started with a loss last night. It didn't.

I'm still on the fence as to whether this team is real or not. But, as the poster in Mulder's office says... "I want to believe." icon_nod

...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

Boy, these next 2 games, at home vs Ottawa and the Kings.

Basically a layup to get to 10 games over .500. What will we do?

THis?

I'm glad I'm not watching every game anymore. Maybe one in every 4 or 5. Still checking these boards every now and again, and keeping up to date with everything going on as best I can. But not being so down in the weeds I think gives you some perspective. No need to get so worked up if one of these games are dropped. I do think the win against Vancouver was big though, I'll admit that.

But this is really the beauty of the NHL and hockey as sport: parity. Even crummy teams have a chance on any given night. It's one of the few sports where hard work can actually outweigh talent. The league is fairly even top to bottom, so it really won't surprise me (and it should be expected because of their roster, really) if they continue to have drop offs throughout the season. It's a long season.

I'd argue that if they drop both, it will mean little to nothing over the course of the season.
