Connor starts the game as he finished that last one, drive to the net and score all by himself.

Double banking the puck off both feet of the defenseman. All according to his plan.

And there is the downside of Smith playing the puck. If the D miss it at all its an open net gift

That goal was all on Smith- he shouldn’t have gone out that far.

Ya, I should have been more clear. Not laying blame on anyone but Smith. It is such a big part of his game for his entire career that the Oilers knew what they were getting.

I am sure defenceman are happy to take less hits from forechekers but it must be stressful not knowing what is going to happen.

and as I type this Smith gives one up behind the net and it's a second gift.

Good time for the Oil to score their 1st PP goal! And it’s Neal who gets it....

If Smith keeps playing like this, they may have to yank him.

Ya. McDavid needs to read that play and have his man BEFORE he gets the puck but it was a weak goal.
Gonna be an old school 80's shoot out at this rate

Connor would have easily had better position on Kopitar of he'd pick him up just a bit earlier, no way he pulls away from Connor. The scoring is no where near done in this one. LA will get some even up calls here.

McD gets beat bad on the 3rd goal, but the goalie needs to make that save.

Was pretty much a breakaway, and Smith had to be aware of Kopitar's speed and how Kopitar had an easy path across the net. Kopitar was gonna shoot wherever he saw the open space. Drai scores his breakaway goals just like that all the time. Is what it is. Team needs to be more heads up and now allow that chance.

Bummer seeing 2 Smith plays lead to goals. 1st one was avoidable though if any of our players were paying attention seeing how Smith's shot off the boards was going to go straight to a King. I think Nurse is just flying the zone not paying attention at all as soon as Smith plays it.

Great play by the top line to get that goal. Happy to see Kass get it too!

McDavid better watch for elbows in the back of the head. That's how Doughty evens every score.

They showed stats from last year- Doughty was -34 on that season. Good, screw him.

It was absolutely not a breakaway. McDavid was even with him 20 feet in front of the goal, but took a weak position and Kopitar just bullied him out of the way. McDavid doesn't have the luxury of size, he needs to get in better position to counteract that. That goal was more a McDavid issue than a Smith issue, but that being said, Smith needs to make the save.

https://i.ibb.co/6FgqmZ7/2019-10-05-23-59-47-Kopitar-restores-the-Kings-lead-com.png

McDavid didn't have any position on Kopitar. Kopitar jumped by him and shot it right away under Smith's arm. Not at all an easy save on a guy 7 feet out.

https://i.ibb.co/KGL2Rns/2019-10-06-00-02-30-Kopitar-restores-the-Kings-lead-com.png

Kopitar had lots of options with that puck that Smith had to consider. The very quick shot under Smith's arm was a great play by Kopitar and he's gonna score there many times if you give him those chances.

The solution is simple, don't let elite players take wide open shots 7 feet from your goalie.

Maybe we're saying the same thing, aside from Smith's responsibility. I don't expect a goalie to make that save personally. At that range, if a shooter puts the puck fast into open space, it's going in. All the goalie can do is try to be big and pray.

Persson looked pretty clueless on that play too. Did not notice at all what was developing as he was coasting around the circle watching it all. Could have got to the net 1st. Ended up covering no one. So sick of Dustin Brown still scoring points against us...

Cave gets beat for goal #4. Those bottom 2 lines need to be defensively airtight.

lol, Remenda going full Kings homer questioning every powerplay the Oilers are given.

You mean the one where Drai lost his footing and the King was called for a trip. Totally wasn't a penalty.

Every call. And every penalty on us is 100% legit. This is just typical Remenda.

There, he complained about a non-call to the Kings. Happy now?

See, he's suggesting McDavid was embellishing there :)

Euro power. Haas to Nygard!

And a nice game management call to get the kings back on the PP.

All these penalties...are these guys trying to lose? I do have to say, however, that I feel the holding call on Bear was horse$$((.

Neal has as many PPG's tonight as Lucic had all last year in 106 minutes.

Yup, talk about an upgrade 2 net front presence. Neal could get 15 like that on the PP this year.
