2018 closed with OilerPunch fisting the competition en route to his (gender assumed) first championship. But championship glory is short-lived and the belt must be defended. So in 2019 OP puts the title belt back on the line in 40 MAN OVER THE TOP ROPE BATTLE ROYAL. THAT'S RIGHT IN JANUARY AND WE'RE ON THE ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA. *pyro hits*

Ultimate heel turn would be Benv's music starting up and him coming back to the ring to take what still belongs to him. Last I heard, he won the cruiser weight championship in Japan doing J-League soccer survivor. Anyway...

Benv's rules for Oilfans Survivor are as follows:

1) Prior to every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday I will post the list of NHL games taking place that day.
2) If you want to participate, simply respond to this post with the name of a team you think will win their game that night. Your selection must be posted prior to the start of the whatever game you are choosing.
3) If your chosen team wins their game that night you have survived to the next round. If your team loses, you're eliminated. Failure to post your selection prior to the deadline will also result in elimination. Note that the same team may be (and often is) chosen by numerous people--they will all move on or be eliminated accordingly. I would ask that you choose your team prior to viewing the selections of others (you are on the honour system here, since I have no way of verifying this).
4) Once all the games are done, I will list who has survived, and post the next set of games. Each survivor will then choose a new team (or the same team if they want).
5) We continue this way until there is only one person left. Should all survivors pick losers on a given night, they will all move on to the next round. If we get down to just two people left, we switch to a shootout format. The last person left is the survivor and is the winner. His or her prize is... well nothing, since we're doing this for fun. You will get the ultimate respect of your peers.

Thursday, January 3, 2018's games

Calgary Flames @ Boston Bruins
Florida Panthers @ Buffalo Sabres
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Los Angeles Kings
Vancouver Canucks @ Montreal Canadiens
Chicago Blackhawks @ New York Islanders
Carolina Hurricanes @ Philadelphia Flyers
Washington Capitals @ St. Louis Blues
Minnesota Wild @ Toronto Maple Leafs

This is fine.

2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.
2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!

Without looking at anyone elses picks, I pick Tampa.

Anyone else that picks Tampa, even if it was before me, is now copying me. Remember, you have the option to change your pick. By not doing it, it would be copying.

I maintain my pick of Tampa, content in the knowledge that should they lose, I'll be taking down kr55 and CrusaderPi with me. Now - here's hoping Mike picks Tampa too...

Hope this survivor lasts a couple months, because it's gonna take me a while to come to terms with that happened here.

Your pick is officially a parlay. Toronto and Tampa both have to win for Kr to move on.

I picked a random post to reply to without reading it. So please note I have not read the above.

I'm just glad that if To wins and Tampa loses I will move on in Survivor 54 and Adam, CrusaderPi and others will be eliminated.

I applaud anyone who brings a big set of stones to this game. I really is no fun if everyone just chooses (what appears to be) the easiest game. The wusses actually have a pretty terrible first round record as a whole.

A lively (and contentious?) opening round opening round saw 11 of 21 posters, including the defending champion, move on.

Did you know they're releasing a new Addams Family movie this year? No really, MGM is rebooting that steaming pile of garbage. Who is the target market for this in 2019? Is anyone clamoring for more heady 80 year old satire? Thinking back on it, I have no idea what the Addam's family was about. Who was the villain? What did the characters do? What were the stories about? Hollywood is completely out of ideas.

Buffalo Sabres @ Boston Bruins
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Florida Panthers
Edmonton Oilers @ Los Angeles Kings
Nashville Predators @ Montreal Canadiens
Minnesota Wild @ Ottawa Senators
Calgary Flames @ Philadelphia Flyers
Tampa Bay Lightning @ San Jose Sharks
New York Islanders @ St. Louis Blues
Vancouver Canucks @ Toronto Maple Leafs

Picks are due by game time Saturday.

This is fine.

Munsters were better. So were the Flintstones other neighbors on the non-Rubble side, the Gruesomes.

He did the mash! He did the monster mash!

A) I liked the old TV show when I was a kid. GOod after-school fare. I don't really remember much about the movies, although the casting was pretty spot on. Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester, Raul Julia as Gomez, Angelica Huston as Morticia and the girl with the giant eyes as the creepy daughter...

B) NetBOG owes his survival in this game to Goffer!

C) Picking the Flames to win is tantamount to Oilers treason.

D) I pick Tampa to beat San Jose.
