Well, the Oilers have struggled against the Blues for a long time:

http://mcubed.net/nhl/edm/stl.shtml

9-21-0 since 2010, and 23-39-4 since the turn of the century. We swept them in 2016-17, but that was the first time we won the season series since 2009. The Blues are a team we almost always struggle against.

Concerning to note that the Oilers have also stopped scoring...only 9 goals in their last 5 games. If McDavid isn't back in and semi-healthy tonight, it might be an uphill battle...

The Oilers have struggled against everyone since the turn of the century. It's almost like something happened back then that made the team noticeably worse than everyone... anyway. The Blue aren't a good hockey team now, so this is a must win.

Tarasenko for Drai straight up. Do you do it?

In a heartbeat. McDavid would make him a fifty goal scorer with his shot.

Without McD we lose. This team can't score or create much without him. Sad but true.

Seems ready to go. Although, 2+ mins of talking about how he was sick, giving a play by play of his entire day while he was sick and reflecting on his regret of not getting to play for the dad's might have made him sick again.

ALso, Matheson seems to have trouble keeping his balance as he asks rambling questions about Talbot and if it's good for a team to have 2 good goalies. Wonder if he was drunk.

What do you bet that Russell ends up with about 3 minutes of ice time while one of McDavid, Draisaitl or Nuge double-shifts as center with that line?

I wake up depressed seeing Calgary scoring 9 in a game and Matthews just ripping it up with all his amazing linemates.

McDavid is doing the best he can, the secondary scoring really need to step up. If Oilers win they are only 6 back of the Flames for top spot in the Pacific, it's a Must Regulation Win.

Coincidentally there's a push from some fans and media (TSN 1260) to put Nuge and Drai on the same line, while further restricting McDavid by giving him TWO boat anchors for wingers.

I mean, based on the supporting cast they've surrounded him with, someone in that organization is clearly trying to drive McDavid out of Edmonton, so this move would be consistent with that.

I'm actually okay with Puljujarvi on that line. Chiasson is riding the hot hand, but his underlying numbers are not great, so I'd have him on a very short leash. 3 games without a goal and I would be moving him down the lineup 5x5.

Yeah, would be nice to see Pulju tried with McDavid again. Been almost a year I think since that last happened for more than some partial line changes.

But then he might score, thus creating more false hope that he belongs up here right now.

The recall was a mistake in my opinion. They are going to ruin this kid at all costs.

Blues with 3, possibly 4 regulars out, including Pietrangelo and have 3 AL call ups. Is this an advantage? We shall see.
