These guys never learn. They let in first goal on first shot 19 times last year - totally unacceptable. Not ready to play.

It is fun hearing the crowd slowly gain noise as he rushed up the ice. Like a jet gearing up to take off sound effect for him.

Good play by Lucic going far side with a good target for McDavid as he came around the net as well, you could see the "hell ya" on his face going by the bench.

Well done Loo. You were able to let a perfect Connor pass deflect off your stick.

How many times did we see him screw that up last year?

I hope he does this 25 more times. Stick down. Blade directed towards the net. Good enough.

He would probably be getting more ice-time if the Oil didn’t let a goal in off the very first opposing shot of the season.

PP still awful. Only hope is to score off a rush while on the PP like we did on Lucic's goal. Just don't bother setting up, try rushes over and over.

We're still doing the bullcrap play up the boards to stationary wingers?

2nd line is getting destroyed out there.

2nd line will soon be the 3rd line, the most expensive 3rd line in the NHL.

The preseason juggernaut is looking pretty last year so far today.

Way slower than Jersey, lost coverage, dumb plays.

Well, the Oil won their first game last season before starting the toilet spiral. Maybe LOSING the first game this year will have the opposite effect? confused2 confused2

Of course, that first win was against the Flamers, so perhaps it didn’t mean much.

Same 5v5 system, same PP as last year, PK maybe a bit better.

I think these are consistencies that you can expect when you only replace assistant coaches.

Could you imagine Connor McDavid, Jack Hughes and Alexis Lafreniere on the same team? It's looking pretty realistic.

This team has no chemistry. None. Our PP is just as horrible as it has ever been, guys are slow to get back on D (when the Oilers can actually get it out of their own zone), we can't afford shaky play from Talbot with our mediocre backup and we only have one forward line creating chances 5 on 5.

We all knew looking at this schedule that the Oilers are in tough to build confidence and momentum in the first month or so...

On a positive note, McDavid is going to be even more explosive this year and that scoring title is his to lose. He's hands down the best player in this league and, as long as we have him, a complete team turnaround at any point is never out of question!

You know that part of the hockey season where you have so much hope for the whats to about to come.. bye bye..

Back to our regular programming.

Good thing Oilers didn't trade away that 2019 1st rounder.

Besides McD the entire team looks brutal.. slow and meek. I haven't seen such pitiful boardwork. I see the problem though.. when they do their "battle drills" along the boards in practice.. they do it against weak competition.

Benning.. NHL impostor.

And Talbot? Welcome back bud! Good luck with your new contract next year.. holy crap on that 3rd goal.
