Can we blow our defensive coverage more times in a game please? Apparently picking up a high man (minor hockey basics), picking up the first guy in the corner (minor hockey basics) and being strong on the puck and man after a rebound (minor hockey basics) are not in the Oilers vocabulary.

Pathetic defensive display from start to finish...

I want to moan, but as has been the case with so many games I've watched us play this year, we showed we can compete, showed we can be the equal of all these teams, but the kicker is that last season we managed to find ways of winning, this season we've reverted back to finding ways to losing games.

Individual errors, poor coaching decisions, shocking calls, we just aren't getting rub of the green as we did last year. We can't build a run together to get any confidence, and confidence is what we lack to close games out.

We came back into this game, took the lead but didn't look like we felt we could hold out.

If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Well, if there was any doubt, this California road trip should certainly have put those to bed, even for the most optimistic amongst you. 15 points out with 28 games to go. We are closer to last overall than a playoff spot. How are the clowns in charge still employed?

Haha...funny. There were people asking in here what it looked like if the Oilers went 3-0 in California. Instead they come home 0-3.

And is it just me, or did the team not go in to protect mode in the third with the tie? Idiot coach. The team needs to make up massive ground on most of the Western Conference, so playing for a tie doesn't make any sense any more. And clearly, with this team and this defence and your back-up goalie in net, protecting the tie is basically just taking away upside while still risking massive downside - as shown tonight.

On the upside, Keegan Lower looked great out there.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

Lucic must have missed the memo on safe play though. The rushed for no reason spin around no look passes just keep coming.

Let them in early. Let them in late. This team is something special.

Only mad about the lack of McPoints though.

Yup.
Closer to dead last (14 pts) than to a playoff spot (15 pts)

Good news though, McDavid is only 5 back of the league lead in points.

After 2 years of Chiarelli, and this team's defense is not much better than the previous tire fire. So glad we were bold enough to trade T. Hall to rectify that weakness. Mission accomplished!
Benning looks awful, I think he'd even struggle in the AHL.
Sekera has fallen a few levels, due to surgery most likely, but I get the impression its more than that.
Klefbom plays like a Swedish Jethro Bodine, slow thinking, with matching boots. Total lack of intensity, seems uninterested. Never seen a D-player manage to avoid making some many hits, he's the exact opposite of Larsson. Physically ineffective.
Davidson, at his price is a decent 3rd pairing, or 7th.
Russell as a 6th isn't bad, but a 6th D-man with a NC, and $4 M a year, doesn't add up to cap success.

This team can't move the puck out along the boards if their lives depended on it, whether its forwards, or D-men, it doesn't clear the zone, and winds up with a Grade A the other way. They are really bad at this, and the rest of the league knows, they press these guys hard, and it pays out grade AAA chances like a bloated slot-machine.

10 times they have let in the first goal, on the first shot. Are they trying for a record?

McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!
Tic-Tac-Tao!
Keep on Rockin' in the Free World
P. Chiarelli math.. T. Hall = A. Larsson, Yak= bag o'pucks, K. Russell = $4.1 M+NMC, G. Reinhart= M. Barzal + A. Beauvillier
