Wasted another evening watching this 3-Ring Circus. So many freaking give aways, LB has a great game and still gets lit for 5 goals.

First period was shaky but I also thought LB settled down and made some key saves to keep the team in it.
He seemed to have better control of his body and wasnt over playing his cross net slides as often as he had in the pass.
One thing that still bugs me is the ducking turtle/shoulder shrug move he makes on high shots. A perfect example was the Nylander PP goal.

McLean calling out McLellan for his "rewarding" players with ice time late in crucial moments late in games instead of just playing his best players.

I agree 100%. It's friggin annoying.

I don't know what else could be expected after another in a long line of frigging awful starts/1st periods for the Oilers.

Goes to show if you are unprepared to come out bearing down, to a man.....from the goalie out, in the first 20 minutes and are down 3-1, this is what is ultimately deserved. You can be heroic in getting yourself back in the game, but it can be decided by a stunningly bad break/brain-cramp. If the Oilers had played 60 minutes instead of 35 or 40, it probably doesn't come to this.

One the bright side..... Puljujarvi was making things happen with McD tonight, he looks good, can keep up, big body, good hands, wicked shot, protects the puck well, no give aways like his line mate (ya you Lucic), and seems to know how to play in his own zone. I say keep him there.

Didn't score though. Back to the press box. Cammalleri will take it from here.

I haven’t felt this since the Oilers blew that 3-0 lead in Game 5 against the Ducks.

Only thing I can say is that if they can play like that in the 3rd there will be more wins than losses.

Easy to pile on Russell, but he at least did other things tonight.

Gryba, heavily responsible for 3 of the first 4 goals against. Why is he playing on our team for a 3rd year in a row damn it? Are Chia and McLellan blind? I know McLellan sees stuff sometimes, because Gryba has probably been benched part way through a game over a dozen times.

I’m having a hard time pinning the season on the coaches knowing that we have some big holes in the roster that weren’t filled. Eberle’s points, Sekera as our best D man, and secondary role players like Pouliot, Desharnais, and even Hendricks. And Klefbom and Talbot not playing as well/amazing as they did last year.

I agree, a lot of the goals against are about bad decisions of players, not on the coach. Player moves are another factor, and again not the coach. That being said, something is wrong with that PP and PK. Oiler PK is something like 54%, should be firing at 80%.

Russell had a great game, too bad that 5th goal was off his stick.

All in all, was happy to see them battle back from 3-1 down and make a solid game of it

I don't mind the Russell own goal. The event in a vacuum falls into the category of 'stuff happens' no big deal. The problem, as I see it, is there's a player playing with a minute left in a tie game who completely panics as soon as something goes wrong in a relatively safe situation. There was a bouncing puck in the high slot, the Oilers weren't under undo pressure, and Russell had body position on Kadri. So why take two wild swipes at the puck? Frankly I'd prefer a brain cramp to total panic.

A very Trumpan response

In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.

The Oilers played 40 very good minutes with the exceptions of the Gryba penalty and the own goal.

Why they can't play like that until they're down 3-1 is beyond me.

They can. Just only every 3rd or 4th game

This is what happens to teams who aren't very good. The Oilers are simply not very good.

Peter Chiarelli, General Disappointment.
