Well, this is a better effort by the team from the get-go. They just have to score now....

The crappy thing is that the GA came *despite* the Oil's collective effort tonight instead of *because* of it. icon_neutral

I will say this, watching this team was much less stressful when they consistently sucked.

Now I have expectations and hope.

Good to see the Oilers look like they'll remain the slump busters of the NHL.

Only the end of the first, but still. Does not look good.

A couple parts are better to much better, the rest is worse to much worse. I'm worried about Talbot. If he goes full Dubby, in whatever year Dubnyk played his way off the team, the Oilers are sunk.

Enh, it's bit early to worry yet. Cambot always seems to get off to a slow start each year. He did last year too (remember that abortion against the Sens in their first meeting?).

Right now, it's just frustrating to see them losing despite a better effort overall than on Saturday. If they can get the next goal, they can turn it around.

I don't think it's too early to worry. On Oilfans we've collectively identified a few areas where the Oilers might have gotten worse or simply failed to improve over the off season. Right now, in my opinion, it's too early to assume we're right and it can't be fixed.

It's also too early to assume that they're wrong and it can't be fixed. Worry if you like, but don't start saying the sky is falling just yet after 3 games even if they lose tonight.

This team simply can't make two passes in a row.

They seem to just throw the puck into the middle of the ice, can't hold it in their zone. Even in the Calgary game, they did that.

Only McLellan would allow Maurice to get one of his top lines out against his 4th line...sigh. Bit behind, but was so clear that 2nd goal was gonna happen when I saw the 4thiest running around clueless in our end. Looked like a 5 on 3 PP.

Where is Steve Mason when you need him...

If he can keep it up, then the 2nd line should be fine and secondary scoring should not be a huge concern this year.

Wow this team. Maurice looks like a coaching genius tonight against us. Top line against our 4th line on the road for a goal. His timeout looks brilliant as we just fall apart after it.

Benning is folding out there. Time to try to make a move for a D now from a position of obvious weakness?

Outside of the goal by Drai (who should be a center) the entire right side of this hockey team needs upgrading.

Games left that I have to see Kris Russell in an Oilers jersey=398

At the very least break up that Russel - Benning pairing; it's been a tire-fire the last 5 periods.

I have trouble imagining what you create with them broken up... Think it might actually be worse.

At the very least break up that Russel - Benning pairing; it's been a tire-fire the last 5 periods.

I have trouble imagining what you create with them broken up... Think it might actually be worse.

Gryba the least trusted d-man so far this year, but taking him out means Auvitu in...and is anyone that confident that that's the missing ingredient?

Maybe Sekera will suddenly be declared healthy?
