TMac should be reaming out the team after this one, I hope.

I think we double jinxed it with so many people picking the Oil in the NHL Survivor contest. We should make a rule where Edmonton games can’t be chosen.

Holy heck, what a garbage game. No one could do anything right, aside from flashes from Nuge's line. Or maybe should just say Nuge himself.

Too busy watching the highlights of the Calgary game from the other night.
Nuge was the only one who came to play.

That whole line was buzzing. Kassian looked good. Lucic hitting.

The rest of the team tried to play a solid 3rd but the Nucks went 2004 Devils and lined up 5 on the blue line.

We probably needed that. Get guys to stop believing their press clippings.

Can we stop the Letestu carrying the puck into the zone on the PP thing? Every time Klef intentionally gave the puck to a rushing Letestu (must be in the Woodcroft playbook) I just rolled my eyes and knew that was gonna cost us another 20+ seconds. Letestu has been brutal on the PP since that little spurt in pre-season vs Winnipeg. Give the guy a break from making him have to stick handle on the rush into the zone on the PP. He's choking over and over again and I wouldn't actually expect much more considering his skill set. He can skate OK, he can shoot, but he has zero playmaking ability.

Game also saw the return of the Lucic move where he stickhandles around the zone until he loses it. Just isn't a strength of his, but he tries it all the time.

Not a good night. Some thoughts:

- It would be nice to see Nugent-Hopkins with a player who can finish. Kassian on the second line speaks to our depth more than Kassian's play.
- So glad we have Yamamoto up here right now eating popcorn. I'm sure this will all be very valuable for him.
- Khaira doesn't look to have much confidence from his coach either. Barely over 10 minutes of TOI after two full games. Pakarinen didn't see a lot more.
- So...many...penalties.
- Talbot wasn't great. First line wasn't dominant. I wonder what the team's record is going to look like on games where McDavid doesn't get a point...

Bad game. They know it. We move on.

In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.

Oilers being Oilers. Have a good game, then think all you have to do is let McD win another for you. Piss poor effort. No checks finished, like they thought they could just finesse their way to a win, should be fun watching film.

Pretty much silenced the people who think the Canucks are garbage. Never take it for granted but anybody but the Canucks! They do have a goaltender! Poor game last night but they'll bounce back!

Canucks also made several savvy cheap veteran signings. Del Zotto, Gagner, Vanek...they've added a lot of NHL players for very little money this year.

It would be a mistake to expect any of those guys to be world beaters, as Oilers management always seemed to when signing the Belangers and Barkers, but at what they're being paid they can all add an element.

Overall, I still don't think that team is playoff calibre, but they'll surprise a few teams this year.
