So does Lucic beat someone up tonight just to set the tone like last year?

Larsson was given Eberle's A it looks like:

#Oilers add Adam Larsson as an Alternate Captain, joining Milan Lucic, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins & Connor McDavid as the team’s leadership group.

Larsson continues to show why they got him. Rock solid on the back end, a nasty SOB to play against and a leader.

Either that, or Chiarelli wants to make sure that his big acquisitions are seen as key. Remember, letters don't necessarily mean leadership. Remember Shayne Corson?

McD starts his march to the Cup tonight.

His teammates need to keep up to his level of effort and focus.

Guys I'm interested in watching and will be pivotal in determining the Oilers season, are; Lucic, Nuge, Strome, Bennett, Nurse. Lucic and Nuge have to bring some fire on the 2nd line, get some production, capitalize on the other teams focus on McD and LD.

Bennett I hope doesn't slip from last year's play, hasn't overwhelmed in pre-season, and also hope Nurse finally takes a big stride forward, he's got top 2 potential, all ability, needs to think quicker.

Strome I have no idea how he'll turn out, pre-season hasn't indicated much, needs to be worth the loss of Eberle.

Jelly may make 9 games but he'll be going back to Spokane, I hope.

How long does Strome stay as a third line center? I think I'm going to enjoy watching his use this year.

I would guess that he's used on the third line most of the year - either as winger for Nuge, or centering when Draisaitl is up on line one.

Paying Draisaitl $8.5 million to play with McDavid...ehhhhh.

If he puts up 80+ points doing that and they can whoop teams then I'm not going to complain.

Jokinen is our best face-off guy while Strome is terrible - I could see them swapping positions on the third line.

Hope the 2nd and 3rd line can do more than their last showing. Need Yamamoto to be another coach-proof talent (doesn't play like the historically worst offensive version of himself under our "system") for us.
