It's helpful that all these teams keep playing Calgary first, so you can determine the level of Must-Win game by whether or not they lost to the Flames...

I look forward to this game. Tavares is my one of my favorite non-Oilers in the league right now and my youngest is an Isles fan.

"My wife told me Edmonton was going to win the pick that day," said Gretzky. "That was the day that I retired 16 years ago. So, she said, for whatever reason, the Oilers have good luck today. Connor McDavid went to Edmonton."

This also begins the final 17 games in 34 days stretch. No more sitting around waiting due to the mandated CBA days off or odd schedule.

Lots of of crazy hockey in the next month.

Meaningful crazy hockey. I can't believe the prediction of the future has finally come to pass.

I would call this an almost must win game.

After firing their coach, it's not unusual for the team to go on a little better run with the new guy but I don't think the Islanders are that good of a team. Snow let too many good players walk for nothing without really replacing them. Boychuk is hurt. Seidenberg is old and slow. Hamonic was just activated from a knew injury last week that had him out since early January so you have to think he didn't do a lot of skating with a knee injury so it should take him a bit to get back into game speed. Plus in general their defense isn't spectacular so I think this is a game and a defense core that the Oilers should be able to exploit.

Wait.... The Oilers are playing their 66th game of the season vs Ho-Sang #66? Strange things are about to occur.

Sucks that we would be helping the leafs, but we have to win this one. Gotta cash these ones in against mediocre teams.

Personally, I think the Oilers should be selfish. Let the Eastern Conference teams figure out how to keep the pox that is the Toronto Maple Leafs out of the playoffs. That's their business. The Oilers business is to get themselves into the playoffs AND hosting a first round series.

The flamer and laughs hate is easier when Edmonton is good. I'm glad it's back, felt like it might never be like this. Thinking back to the Eakins days before Mac T came in, when the other team would be up two goals in the first 5 minutes, we deserve this!

I'm not sure which I'd enjoy more:
The Leafs not making the playoffs, or the Leafs making the playoffs but getting swept in the first round. Either would be fine with me.

I really think the leafs out would be better. I don't want their young guys getting any playoff experience, I want them to still have no clue what it's like next year. Also, I actually would like to see the Oilers get some attention by the media on sports shows on TSN and Sportsnet. if the leafs are in, you will barely hear anything about the Oilers in the 1st round no matter how well they're doing. McDavid could do an end to end rush dancing through all 5 guys on the other team and roofing it, and it would be buried under piles of stories about what Matthews had for breakfast, Marner's growing friendship with Bozak, how Reilly likes his water bottle to be placed on the bench, how Nylander gets his hair so perfect, etc...
