He's been named captain for his senior year at UND. He's the second Oiler to be captain of this team in the last few years, Chris VandeVelde is a previous captain. I still have a lot of faith in this guy, he's got a steep uphill climb with the defensive depth in Edmonton and OKC, but he's going to be a player. He should have a real strong year this year and start in OKC next year.

But he (Belanger)'s as soft as room temp. margarine.

Dillon Simpson has been nominated for the Hobey Baker...he's a long shot, but lets get him some Oiler votes! He's 5th in voting right now!

Here's an article on him on the University's website.

What? No love for Kellen Jones?

Crap, didn't even notice he was nominated...

Well despite that, I stand by my plea for Dillon Simpson votes...

Speaking of Dillon Simpson don't we either have to sign him soon or lose him?

Yep. He's a senior, done this year. He's gotta be signed once the season is over. Being a top 10 Hobey candidate, there's no way the Oilers let him walk. Right?? He'll need a year minimum in OKC, but he's a solid prospect. Leads his conference in defenseman scoring.

Justin Schultz says, "Hi."

Hopefully there's no karma there, we've already endured enough these seven+ years.

Seriously though, Oilers D is so thin any prospect has the best shot at getting in the NHL with the Oilers. Playoffs not so much.

The NHL defense is just horrific but our prospect pool is really deep on the blue line with Nurse, Klefbom, Simpson, Fedun, Marincin, Musil and Gernat. Combine that with our chance of drafting Ekblad increasing by every game we lose and it's getting to be quite the log jam back there. Time to move some of those guys along in the summer for proven NHL size up front or immediate help on the back end.
